Is it worth taking smite in lane

In bronze, just to secure drag/baron yourself since your jg is bound to be braindead?

Definitely not! You'll benefit much more from other Summoner Spells. They'll help you secure an advantage that will allow you to take these objectives more safely.

there's nothing to answer regarding objectives, you go all in or you fall away doing nothing.

unless it's a baron bait play.

then you just be really damned careful

Not at all - Junglers miss with smite all the time, even in Platinum levels of play. It's not a sign of a bad Jungler, in my opinion. It's rather minor.

**Harassment and CC are much better tools to win objectives safely. **

K, the reason i asked this was two games in a row where i played top and absolutely stomped lane. I wanted to take the fire dragon, but i didnt want to do it without my jg. I had a red ward on it so i knew they didnt have vision. I pinged my team for 2 min. they didnt come. As soon as i tele top to stop a push, they start it then miss smite. Then they did it again.

In the second game it was a similar situation. I ping on drag, no one comes, and they dont accomplish anything anywhere else. If i Have a red on it, should i just do it anyway without smite if i think i can solo it, and hope the enemy jg doesnt come?

Also, what if i dont have cc or harass. Say im, like, sivir top and just went 9/0 in lane

Dragon is best taken as a team effort - you CAN solo it if your that far ahead, but that's risky. It's always risky to try for objectives by yourself. I'd only recommend doing this if you know the location of most of the enemies in the game. Try to predict if you can take it before anyone notices. Gameplay experience will help you learn these lessons. Practice a few times at certain levels and with certain items so you know if its doable. There are a lot of online guides on this subject as well.

If your team isn't going to do Dragon, just try to keep it warded and move on. Towers are also really important objectives, and these are MUCH easier to take by yourself. **Trying to force something in league will often end poorly. ** In many ways, its best to just relax and let the others make mistakes, then capitalize accordingly. You only know if they are making mistakes if you have vision.

Another way to look at all this is just 'pressure' .. you want to pressure the enemy into doing something. If your attacking a tower, you are pressuring them to come and defend it. If your contesting dragon, your pressuring them to come to dragon. Pressure is what drives the pacing of the game. If you are ahead - you want to be exerting pressure on the enemy team. If your VERY ahead, and they can't deal with you, they have to devote more resources (IE: More than 1 person) to dealing with you, this makes it easier for your other lanes to grow in power.

As for Sivir, she has a bit of harass with her boomerang blade, and her shield could help her escape, but my advice above stands. I would not attempt a solo dragon, unless i was confident i could kill it quickly and no enemies would find me.

Stick to pushing towers. In many ways, thats what wins the game - don't oversell yourself on Dragon - the buffs are great, but they aren't critical. Towers are always critical.

if it's dangerous and you got vision on the enemy.... take it if they're focused on killchases and midlane battles

If your having this much trouble with your teammates and you value neutral objectives that much, (I would) then it might be of best interest to swap your main position and try Jungle yourself.

Most of the time, a smite solo laner wasn't for actually using smite in of itself, but rather gaining access to Jungle items that benefited you. At first we had people buying into it for the smite upgrades. (Some supports would use Chilling smite in lieu of Exhaust) And then their were the abuse of Jungle items. (Notably Cinderhulk in top lane) Otherwise, it's not worth taking smite just for the Neutral objective control alone.

But if you don't like the Idea of playing Jungle yourself, you might try a champ who has power to secure Neutral objectives with their own kit. (Cho'gath's feast for example will outdamage a smite)

you should if you doubt your jg.

or you can wait till the unganking jg gives the enemy 3 uncontested kills because he farmed instead of assisting.

BUT, that's your bronze play. it's not ineffective, just weird.

No.

Ideally, you don't want to baron/dragon when it's heavily contested anyway. If the enemy jungler is there (or any champion with a high damage ult, e.g. Chogath ), it's basically 50/50, even if your own jungler is challenger tier.

Who is Taliyah1 votes

I used to play smite Taliyah midlane with pre-change spellthief's and item 1402 (similiar to Tilterella smite Orianna) It was a very strong early - mid game build but fell down extremely hard after the 30 minute mark. Didn't try it since the spellthief's change tho.
