Is helping top lane kind of pointless?

You can get 2 people ahead, collect more kills and alternate to mid lane and quickly pick up dragon if you focus the lower map.

If all lanes are failing do you want to plug 1 player or 2? 2 of course so you're going to bot lane.

A top laner can play passively in a 1 v 2, there also isn't as much poke going up top, but bot lane? You can't play passively against a 3 v 2 for very long, there's also a ton of poke.

If you win botlane, you can follow up with 3 more people added to mid, than 2 if you went from top to mid. When bot + jungle show up at mid, most laners just back off.

Would SR be better off as 6 v 6 with 2 top and bottom? Otherwise bot lane is always the center of focus, or should that be ok?

What if the meta enforced adc + support mid lane? How would you do that, would it balance out the center of focus?

Doesn't matter which lane the ADC is in, they'll always a primary target to help snowball.

If you have a tank and damage dealer in the same lane, why should any other lane matter? If you get this combination fed, the frontline can't die and the artillery can't be touched.

That's what I was stating

What could be done to decouple this 'all in one' combination though? It seems a bit lopsided, have people had suggestions for this in the past?

Won't happen because Marksman are pretty much a make or break for a team comp. Riot has tried things like putting Graves in the jungle, and moving Marksman to other lanes so it's not centered around bot lane, but still Marksman will be mandatory regardless.

If marksmen scale better from gold, why are mages/assassins in the mid lane?

Are things the way they are because the community enforces the meta around it though or is there some hidden benefit to being bot lane I'm not aware of, since if support and adc were mid they'd have higher gold and access to both dragon and herald when they win a fight.

Botlane has less gold and access to only 1 immediate objective. I feel like I'm missing something here.

That's usually less about needing a DPS, and more about the fact that an ADC is optimal in the bot lane, due to a lesser need for XP, all because they focus more on AA, yet still having the poke advantage against any Melee skirmisher that tries to contest that.

While they experimented with Mord, the only Organic exception to that trend was Ziggs.

>assuming a top laner will play passively

Passive or not, their a probably a hand full of Top laners who are more capable than others at defending a 1v2. I think that stems from the AoE of the champs abilities, and how much they benefit from having multiple targets.

Kinda off the topic, if we wanted to theory craft an alternate bot laner, I would suspect some one who gains benefit from having more targets. Perhaps someone like Brand who's already played as a support. If you could combined his Duo lane Synergy with Laning gold, he would likely be a force to be reckoned with.

Darius could go adc if tweaked a little, like if Darius E could wind up and go further but have a smaller hit box and slower travel time. If he misses enemy laner can poke him hard, as opposed to now you're either in range and guaranteed to land it because the hitbox is so wide or you're shit out of luck.

Ap burst support seems to be catching on, it really complicates how a tank support deals with counter building the damage, in addition that focusing one leaves the other to dps freely, though the downside is either target can be killed easily if either one gets locked down.

Brand and annie seem less viable than Ziggs or Lux because their disengage isn't strong enough when shit hits the fan.

It's viability vs a non-viability, what they choose to do is up to them, bot lane doesn't have that choice or wide a berth.

You don't have to play ADC in bot lane, nor are marksman mandatory. The biggest reason you don't see the alternatives much is that most of it takes more than one person making some adjustments, and people are generally change adverse. I think the ADC outside of bot lane, and no ADC stats may gradually gain traction over time, but the process will be slow (it will likely take some pro teams playing some original strats of those types to really make it stick and become part of the meta (damn metasheep ;p).

I think it ALMOST is in lower elo because until late game they don't really do anything (from the majority of experiences that I've had.) however letting them fall behind is kind of dumb too because like, you let the enemy top lanner get ahead then late game comes and they are literally in-killable. plus with the new rift herald being kind of op and giving either top, or mid lane a lot of push power, that's really good which is in topside jungle, but if you give it to your top lane and take first tower it'll give your top laner free reign to tp bot or roam mid. So while it might not seem as useful as getting mid or bot fed, I don't think it's useless.

From my experience, top lane's job is to convince the enemy jungler that he needs to come top more than help bot.

Your axioms are stupid.

A top laner is much more vulnerable 1v2 than a bot lane is 2v3.
