Idea to make Illaoi less frustrating to play and more useful at the same time
Why not make her E less of a "i pulled you and now i have your spirit to beat down on while you run away" mechanic and more of "you are trapped in an area and have to fight me for X seconds".
Illaoi's main issue is that she has no lock down, no cc, but deals a ton of damage. this is ok as other juggernauts have limited mobilities/cc as well. garen has his speed up, darius has the pull, morde can build rylais, etc. all the other juggernatus have some way of sticking to someone if they can get close.
illaoi has none of this. her ult is incredibly easy to walk out of. but if you test of spirit someone they should be locked in a moderate sized area(that way they aren't locked down and can move, but have to fight illaoi during this limited time) and she can fight them by force. (think how event horizon from veigar traps you in and you have to walk around, this would obv have to be bigger though) the size would have to be big enough so the enemy doesn't just get ulted and tank tentacles for free, but not so big that you can just still walk away from her. I just feel forcing someone to fight with E would be much more fun to play against and for illaoi as well. the current mechanic is just cheesy as hell and honestly nothing more than a gimmick that is super annoying more than actually having any impact on her kit.
I mean if she manages to test of spirit you, then she can force a fight within a range she can actually play around. right now I feel against anyone competent she is just useless. she lands a good ult in a team fight and it means nothing as everyone immediately disengages and its not like there isn't a ton of disengage in the meta right now. Janna, gragas, alistar so most of her damage never actually gets to be realized. she has potential but the E is the worst part of her kit and offers nothing more than cheese.
