How do you play xayah...

when the enemy just walk out of the way of your feathers and keep shooting, because it just seems to stop most of xayahs damage. Is there something I'm missing or is xayah just that easy to outplay?

Xayah is all about positionning your feathers and using her E fast if the ennemy isn't paying enough attention.

The combo Q + AA + W + AA + E is your way to go. Anything to set your feathers fast. Most likely, you will root someone if you R or Flash + R to take them by surprise, then immediately E.

Also, you should set your feathers when your support is about to make a play or is making a play. If your supports goes in, Q + AA + E to guarentee a root. If you think you can land more feathers, try using W to the combo.

Maxing Q and W first is my way to go : W will give you attack speed that is way more worth than your E, since it will allow you to position your feathers fast. taking Lethal Tempo is also good for her.

Overall, people that have knowledge of Xaya's kit will stay away from her feathers, yes. It's up to you to find ways to position yourself and your feathers accordingly when the time is right. Also, a good synergy with your support is needed to land a root.

Otherwise, yes, consider it easy to avoid.

Once an enemy Xayah starts stacking feathers around me I feel forced to back off because if I get surrounded I'm not gonna be able to avoid the root. I don't play her but it seems to me like you have to abuse the threat that if your opponent stands and fights you'll build up feathers around them.

It also depends on her support. If the support isn't threatening at all then she can't do nearly as much.
