One distasteful part about voice being added in the game is the chance of annoying and obnoxious players who yell at their team, or yell whenever they die. It's a lot easier to tilt/trigger people with voice than it is with text. Another thing I dislike about games with in game voice chat is that they more often than not have the default setting as open mic rather than push to talk, so you frequently hear all their random chatter, background noise, and such. You then would be required to have a group of people who listen to all the people who were reported for offensive voice chat, rather than being able to filter out words from a text conversation. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to implement a feature to mute another player's voice chat, but still be able to see their text, unless you mute that too. Additional noise created by you and other people can lead to you or others not being able to hear something happen, and can lead to unwanted results. Voice communication introduces a variety of good and bad things, and it's a personal opinion whether or not it will be enjoyable.
However, I do agree that with the right people it is very beneficial towards improved teamwork and strategy, being able to more effectively communicate with your team. I have made some great friends on games where voice chat is commonly used ingame.
Discord is nice when you have a predetermined group of friends who play together regularly, which not everyone has, and isn't reliable to expect everyone you randomly join with to use.
I regularly stream music while I play, and enjoy not having to listen to people talk ingame.
