Anyone else feel like Items offer too much?

Marksmen used to buy a Banshee's Veil that only offered Health and Magic Resistance for its Spell Shield effect. Now literally every Marksmen item offers damage.

Morellonomicon takes care of all your Mage needs. Lost Chapter is much better than Mana Potions ever were.

Every Magic Resistance Tank item also offers Health and Cooldown Reduction.

I think League would be more interesting if less items were so perfect.

Imo, there should be more items, and they should be more specialized.

Items serve two purposes in this game, to amplify a champion's overall power and allow them to scale (statstick items like Infinity Edge) or provide interesting utilities unique for a situation (Zz'Rot Portal Siege or massively improving your defense at the cost of offense). Currently, we have way too many items serving double time, providing wonderful stats for their respective users while also providing ridiculous passive effects. Need look no further than AD/C itemization to find items with wonderful stats AND passives.

An honest review of each item in the game, which items are supposed to be niche and which items are supposed to be generalist, and then breaking down these items based on their function or possible functions (creating multiple items out of say, Death's Dance) is what we need right now. As well as that, the inclusion of new items to fill in niches are design vacuums that drastically need addressing. Lethality is cool and all but super limited. Crit itemization is facing a lot of issues thanks to its mix of Passives and stat lines. Mage Itemization has been in the shitter for forever. Etc. etc.

I completely agree.

If items cost 3000 or more gold, they should be allowed to have wonderful stats and a passive effects (within reason). These are core items you invest lots of gold into and count on to carry you through the game. Items that cost less should be one or the other.

Mage itemization lacks imagination but I think its items are better balanced than most other items in the game (aside from Morellonomicon). Some of the items could use miniscule buffs though, like Rabadon's Deathcap.

I'm okay with item having a lot of power, but it is questionable in which form this power should manifest.

If you look at redemption, it got an active part that is as strong as an ultimate ability, basically meaning any champ that build Redemption will have his skill expression heavily tied to Redemption.

The more an item give raw stat, the more it let the champion kit express itself. In case of Redemption, many enchanter doesn't have a huge skill expression (Particularly Sona) so this item was introduced to let them express more.

I feel like items don't offer enough, particularly for immobile melees/bruisers.

Support and AD fighter/carry itemization does typically offer a lot, I'll agree.

They do offer a lot more now, but I like it. I like when you can go through a game adapting to the situation without needing to go a full item that doesn't help you scale.

There are some issues though, like Morellonomicon being so blatantly overtuned that any mage with mana is trolling if they don't get it. AP itemization needs help, but it should be mostly in the form of new items with different niches.
