Yi mains, you know you're the next Malicious Metal right?

Riot recently talked about trying their hand at making more classes viable in botlane and I recently realized that if there's any champ in their sights for this then it's Yi. He really is the closest thing to a melee ADC there is in the game with his scaling and he currently lacks a good place to go in the game from what I hear from Yi players (Jungle being the only place he kinda works).

So with all of that, you KNOW that he's the most likely target for some kind of rework to make a melee ADC in the bot lane. You should speak up now about whether you like that or not and what you would want from this kind of change.

mordekaiser is not the same mordekaiser especially bot IS THE MOST FEAST OR FAMIN CHAMP IN THIS GAME he's not weak, i hit challenger with him but if you don't snowball by 10 min you know you lost the game if you didn't get drake at 10 min because your jungler is never bot or he failed smite, you know you lost the game

it's literally not the same with yi if they send yi bot he's going to be a hyperscaling melee going bot, with no feast or famin thingy or gimick shit like dragon totally the opposite of morde

i wish people would stop kneejerking about sending champions bot

well they said they are going to "open up possibilities for other classes to go bot".

Not FORCE them bot like they did with Morde.

But it's Riot we are talking about. Wouldn't be the first time that the changes they do don't correlate on what they say/said.

Having said that I think these guys would make perfect ADCs

MasterYi Yasuo Gangplank Tryndamere Azir Jayce Riven XinZhao MonkeyKing Nasus Fiora Darius Camille Illaoi

Basically AD champs that would like to teamfight if they had someone that could enable them.

Darius for example is so much designed towards teamfights but he can't get to anything, imagine a Lulu or Zilean helping him out with that. An Alistar or Shen getting the tanks out of the way etc..

Another plus is if the champ isn't too level dependant

But that would mean Riot actually goes through with what they say and don't fuck it up.

Meddler made it very clear that their first targets to go to the Bot lane instead of Marksfolks would be Mages, not Melee Carries.

Any change is good for yi now, hes not viable anymore compared to previous seasons.

Don't let CertainlyT do the rework.

This is not a joke.

.......

Master Yi also has 5 core identities that one must keep when working on him: Double Strike, Alpha Strike, Meditate, Wuju Style, and Highlander... hang on.

My point is: If you want to work on him, make sure it is relateable to Yi. Despite what everybody says, I do think many of the complained about reworks like Galio and Swain are both good examples of rework because they really don't change things all that much, at least not more than other praised reworks like WW, and those are good reworks because the rework keeps the spirit of the old iterations alive. Morde rework was not one of them initially, because it forced him into a kind of play pattern and focus that is completely alien to him, and it required a painful process of rebalancing that more or less reverted half of the damn rework for him to actually feel like Morde again (and the rework doesn't address Morde's feast or famine problem, only made it even worse, too). And I do not want Yi end up as the second Morde rework.

CertainlyT is one of those designers I would like to rework Yi. He focuses on the unique and new and if we are to talk about reworks you may look at Warwick for instance that he is much better than before as before

The team that worked on Kata on Assassin update also should work on Yi since they gave her more stuff to play around making her more fun and more mindful then before. I am not Kata main but I like how the new daggers works along side with the More Shunpo resets

I think people pick Yi jungle is because they don't know how to lane as Yi. IMO the jungler who applies pressure to lanes or counter jungles have better chance to win than someone who farms all day and almost never helps their team

Master Yi can be improved both in the jungle and laning phases giving him better kit for ganking as well as some sort of escape mechanism when he is being ganked. Renekton can stun you and dash away, Warwick has AoE fear and you can use his ult to escape, Fiora got dashes, can parry CC and her ult gives her tons of movement speed and Yi is just kill or die for most of the part

Wuju Style is pretty boring and I think it should be given something better on active, not just do more damage

He also brought us Morde and Cait rework. That's why I don't want him to touch Yi.

Also, in my perspective, CT really isn't the go-to guy for "focuses on the unique and new", given as far as I know of him, he is one of the most prominent 'recycler' in Riot's dev team. Almost all of their more established creations ripped off another iconic champ in some way, Thresh ripped off Blitz, Darius ripped off Garen, Yasuo ripped off Riven, even WW rework did this where the only significant change that added new things to WW is in fact a rip off of Voli's signature gameplay pattern, the list goes on. Most of his work really comes down to him producing alternative and often less balanced version of the other existing champ he's copying from, if we really cut down the whatever fanfares around him. The only big thing that's actually new from the guy that I know of was the ammo system, which is cool, but that's really kinda it (unless you count his often 'everything's free' and unstoppable overloading approaches "unique and new"). But hey.

While that can be nice, but do note that Yi is not an assassin but a skirmisher.

Yi is used in jungle because he almost can not lane, at least that's the case after the game's development passes a certain point in S3 or so, where CC and mobility creeping started to set in. These days, only 1 tricks use him in lane out of pure dedication, there is really not much but disadvantage for doing so outside of occasionally you can use Yi as a counterpick for your opponent (such as for instance, Yi is often considered a counterpick for Darius and loosely Nasus). The reason for that is because unlike the other hypercarries in the game, ranged or melee, he is the only one to have literally 0 CC in his kit; this creates a situation where the only way he can win against his opponent in lane is via having a bigger stat stick, which he also does not have access to in early game because he is a hypercarry (the only exception is the level2 spike if you level Q and E in the first 2 levels, but that's it); hence he is played jungle to negate this fatal flaw by having him farming up safely in jungle without having to face opponents directly in lane.

When Yi jungles, the purpose is not for him to do lane control, at least that's not his major objective. The purpose is for him to farm up and get fed enough to become a win condition if nobody is sent to deal with him in time while he hides in jungle farming up his power and only comes out to pick up kills or to contest highly sought after objectives.

Yi is also not the only farm jungler. It's just Riot has a major stigma against farming junglers and so they did everything they could to nerf that particular style into obscurity. To this date, from the top of my head at least, only 2 junglers are still farm junglers to their core while the rest are either pushed out of jungle or being forced to gank more than they otherwise should do, the 2 being Shyvana and Yi; and in the case of WW used to being a farm jungler, he was reworked into being more gank focused.

To be honest, I don't really want to see him being removed from the farm jungler list, or what's left of it so to speak. You really don't want to normalise the game way too much, because then you'd wonder and ask why even have a gigantic roster like we do when 140 champs are really just different versions of 10-20 champs. Not every champ put in jungle have to have a focus on ganking, you know.

Wuju Style is pretty boring and I think it should be given something better on active, not just do more damage

I tend to agree. I do advocate they do something about the E and did something like they did with Ashe's old Q that kinda had the exact same problem as Yi's E.

In fact, I'd imagine just modernising his kit and utilise the new slot they get by moving E somewhere and add something to Yi this way, is more than enough to rework him, given that's basically what happened to WW as well.

As for what's gonna go there in the E slot? Who knows. But hey. Get excited.
