Status of top lane and who to play

So, I used to be a top lane main using and . I moved to supp after the nerf to mage items as I felt that I couldn't compete with the current top lane. Most of my choices had no sustain, couldn't keep pace with itemization, etc. I really love sustain based champions who can poke which is why I love being Vlad. Looking at that, I was wondering what is currently the biggest pains up top outside of Fiora and what some good picks would be. The few times I don't get supp and I go top I get my butt handed to me. Basically what I'm looking for is some kind of ranged poke, sustain (normally built first item or built in the kit), and some kind of sticking power. I can't play top to save my life because I can't hold them still.
