Riot if you were to copy one thing from Dota 2... A request for a more stratigic pick/ban phase

Please make it be the Pick ban system (image attached of the Dota 2 pick/ban sequence)

IT would make Both Solo Que and LCS less decided by some bans happening or not happening, force strategies to be shown sooner and allow for countering a combo or removing a counter pick. Basically it would allow for more things to be done in deciding the outcome of a game before the game even starts.

Example: The enemy picks Kog. You could ban Janna or lulu to limit their protect the Kog'maw strategy and in turn force more strategies to be played in the LCS.

We don't need more outright bans to start pick/bans off with. Truly broken champs such as release Diana and Zyra could still be banned and after a few picks it would be more about stopping enemy team comps or limiting the enemy team from countering something that you already got. In other words it would be even more strategic during pick ban phase for those that learn matchups.

Dota 2 has a much more involved counterpicking/team comp building system in their game.

This would do nothing except let more power picks get through at the competitive level, and do nothing constructive at all at a lower tier of play.

And if both teams get 2 power picks what is really the problem with that?

And is it really like the current ban system does much of anything in bronze except make sure that no one is playing Kat or Yi?

I am saying that the Dota 2 system would be useful for players who understand matchups, combos and counters. It would be best for LCS level play since countering an enemy team comp or messing it up would be useful but if someone in even silver understands that Orianna + Alistar is a nightmare to deal with and the enemy team picked Alistar then why should the only way to stop said combo be having someone on your team pick Orianna?

an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Both teams getting multiple power picks simply shrinks the pool even more.

If X or Y is always available for first picking because you didnt have a chance to ban it yet, then teams are going to pick X and Y even more.

its allright id say i dont see a problem because there are so many op champs in dota and in league id actually like that.

I don't think 10 bans is what this game needs. What this game needs is a more diverse pool of competitive champs

The thing is, comps are so easy to screw up in LCS. 3 bans are more than enough to target ban off an enemy pick. You really don't like how well an enemy flexes Kog'maw? Ban it. An enemy is proficient in Draven? Ban it. Your opposing top laner is 19-0 on Rumble? Ban it.

And in Solo Queue, it doesn't matter because nobody makes a good comp, they just pick what they like to play/want to play. The inability to immediately ban as many power picks would be pretty bad. You can't target ban against random people, so you just gotta ban power picks (Mine are currently Rengar, Annie, and Swain; Swain can be switched out for a requested ban).

Yeah but with that it would allow for them to not get target banned. So like you said enemy has players who're masters at Draven KogMaw and Rumble, ban out 2 of them, first pick to deny them the pick

Um this makes first pick also have last pick. Wouldn't that be a little one-sided in the currect pick/ban meta?

It works in Dota, because then their opponents choose on which side they want to start. And in Dota, it matters.

Only part I liked about this is that there are 10 bans, 5 per team

which league has needed for some time now...
