Ey morde can give the tears to his teammates with that.

I respect how much you love Mord

Thanks for publicly sharing this, might prevent mord getting nerfed due to askew winrates.

I don't see Morde ever beating Riven unless she's terrible

Malicious Metal21 votes

How so? Every Mordekaiser main knows Riven is by far Morde's easiest matchup. She plays directly into Mordekaiser's hands as he wants the enemy to go in on him and her bad base stats make him able to completely destroy her.

Level 1-2 are the only tricky levels as he should avoid getting cheesed-

First time I played Morde in a norm was counterpicking him against Riven. Lost that game, but it certainly wasn't because of top. Riven was not having a good time. She couldn't farm, she couldn't fight, she could scarcely do anything. It's just so astoundingly easy of a matchup even for a very inexperienced Morde.

Miror B6 votes

It also helps that literally every item you buy against her makes her life that much more terrible. Rylai's removes a bit of her mobility, nashor's (a go to item I think I may have read MM suggesting was good on him) makes it so that she will take constant damage in lane, liandrys adds decent survivability against her, and worst case scenario you can go zhonyas and ignore half of her burst anyways. Super simple matchup with an even easier way to understand it: Mordy kills most divers.

The Viktor main in me says yes whilst the good side of me says no.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

I have the same voices coming from inside, Cassio and Malz chanting Yes,yes, yes

Meanwhile my good side is having flashbacks to when i watched some marksman lose half their health while slowed after accidently stepping near a dying minion with the malz E on it.

Cassio needs to introduction, suffice to say that poison and cold is a bad mix for peoples health and hard to deal with too.

Apocyliptic1 votes

This is completely false. She has too much mobility to stick to and after she gets executioners it's a huge issue. It's a skill matchup in her favor right after level 6. Not even close to his easiest matchup unless the Riven is horrible.

ChaosThief1 votes

Too much mobility to stick to? I think you fail to understand what Mordekaiser does.

If Riven wants to get a kill, she has to go in on him. He has a heal that applies to enemies near him, a Q that increases his basic attack's damage three times, and an E that gives him %shield for hitting a champion, plus it has some range so it can be used while she's going in on him.

Morde gets a shield for hurting an enemy champion with his spells. Riven has to be within his range to hurt him.

Riven quite literally has to play into the strengths of Morde's kit. I don't see how that can be advantageous for anyone to do when Morde is a Juggernaut.

Apocyliptic1 votes

No, I don't think you do. I don't know about you, but I've faced some of the best Riven's NA. I know what someone using Riven to her full potential can do, and I know the inside and outs of the matchup cause I've faced it at least 100+ times. Fact is, it's a matchup you win early, and then slightly lose after 6. Morde just can't handle Riven in a 1 v 1 situation after she's poked him down a bit or got a hexdrinker, regardless of your own build.

She has a shield to block your E damage, in every circumstance. CC to lock you down then dash away before you can get any of your damage off. And has an easy way to build executioners calling based on how her kit works in general. After she gets her hexdrinker, and is working on an executioners, you WILL lose that lane, and if she is farming properly this should be around level 6 to level 8.

I've played almost 400 games of mordeakiser this season with a 57% winrate in mid Diamond 3 currently. I'm going to understand the champion better than you do.

But Riven is considered his worst matchup on op.gg https://na.op.gg/champion/mordekaiser/statistics/top

Backup4now2 votes

Levels 1-2 are Morde's best levels against her because he has just as much cheese potential against her.

Whut Thuh 1 votes

rivens lvl 2 combo is much much better than morde, and can result in an early first blood if you're unprepared for it, whereas riven can just q away if she starts losing the trade

Backup4now1 votes

Riven's level 2 requires her to q in or not get in range. Riven walks within her Q range? You walk back. She Q's in? You hit her. She dashes away immediately? So what? She just used two abilities to deal one Q of damage to you, while you can auto-reset q. She all-ins? She missed her first q (to get to you) and needs w to straight-up kill you. If she took w second, you have many more options to face her via positioning and minion tactics (getting one of your minions behind her, for example).

Beyond that, her one-rotation power is actually enough to kill him 100-0 even if she uses one or two Qs to gapclose; she can't do this at level 2 if Morde did anything right. Morde, however, actually DOES have enough to 100-0 her at level 2.

Apocyliptic1 votes

You can outtrade her level 2 if she dashes into your w, which they often do, so it is winnable.

Did Hexdrinker and Death's Dance stop existing?

Morde isn't all AP, you know. He can build hybrid. When someone builds MR rush, I just build AD and magic pen. Ez.

As for Deaths Dance, Gunblade gives morde sustain, and AD just makes Morde's Q bursty and his E pretty strong.

Backup4now1 votes

If Morde builds Hybrid beyond a gunblade and MAYBE a triforce, MAYBE, he already lost. AD scales super poorly on Mordekaiser beyond level 5.

TEA Nietzsche 2 votes

I don't quite see it though. Both outscale Mordekaiser, both should be able to survive his harass by staying back while being pushed in, both have excellent follow up to ganks (as opposed to his complete lack of mobility) and both are pretty merciless when ahead. Sure, Morde is much stronger early in raw fighting power but with a Dorans Shield start + a little self control Morde should be very managable for both.

Mechakaiser1 votes

Yes, both should survive by playing defensively... Do you see the problem? Every Riven or Yasuo player will jump straight into Mordekaiser's face because: "Muh challengur mejanix, muh Mord noobchamp easy I can outplay." And neither of them outscale Mordekaiser if he builds properly.

TEA Nietzsche 3 votes

Is it really necessary to constantly bash on Riven's/Yasuo's playerbase?

Both do probably outscale him 1v1 due to superior sustain with LS items and do definetely outscale him overall because they can apply pressure more quickly due to their mobility and have superior teamfighting as Morde is easily kited. And again, they should get ahead in lane with a competent jungler.

Martensitic4 votes

Yes, because a statistically significant portion of them takes every chance they get to live up to the clichee.

Both do probably outscale him 1v1

Erm...no, they do not. And I am saying that as a longtime Mordekaiser player.

Morde has himself a bad reputation, because most people who pick him up, do so because "I saw a youtube video".

A competent Morde player, is hell 1v1.

I think it's fair to say that Every Mordekaiser player will push 24/7 until the jungler comes and ganks him which is when he will scream "riven NUBCHAMP 1v1 at baron fucking report my jgl NO GANKS MINUTE 3:40 gg."

Erm...no, they do not. And I am saying that as a longtime Mordekaiser player.

Doubtful, but they do 100% outscale him in terms of push and teamfights so scaling is overall on their side.

You did not play mordekaiser to any significant extent, based on what data do you make these statements?

I refer to my own post: "Morde has himself a bad reputation, because most people who pick him up..."

I really don't know how I could've made it more obvious that this was a parody to this statement (that you defended):

Every Riven or Yasuo player will jump straight into Mordekaiser's face because: "Muh challengur mejanix, muh Mord noobchamp easy I can outplay."

And if that statement is okay then mine should be aswell, right? But I am glad that you think that my statement is not okay, that just makes it more obvious how strong your (and most peoples) bias against Riven/Yasuo is. Y'all are perfectly fine with insulting every Riven main because of your hatred which results in a complete lack of empathy towards them.

You did not play mordekaiser to any significant extent, based on what data do you make these statements?

And you apparantly didn't play any league according to your op.gg so why would you talk about mine?

Also Morde has obviously less mobility and thus can't pressure as efficiently as Yasuo and especially Riven, no need to play Morde to see that. And that getting peeled is a huge problem for Morde is very obvious to everyone and he can't really make up for it by having CC, mobility or ranged waveclear for sieges.

Excuse me, are you writing under the assumption that anyone in a video game, hiding behind an avatar is deserving of empathy for the choice of avatar they make?

Lets share a laugh about this notion, shall we?

Yo wat. This is about your hypocrisy my dude, not empathy. A shitty meme won't hide your bias..

I love it when they try the level-argument and then run against my Boards Smurf :D

My Plat Smurf has 327 games on Mordekaiser my friend. Try again.

I obviously was aware that this had to be a smurf, just wanted to point out your hypocrisy (again). You base arguments on other peoples op.gg while hiding your own.

Calling someone a hypocrit based on facts too triggering for an SJW like you?

I seems like I won this discussion, hard, as the only option left to you at this point, seems to be devolving into insults.

But its not surprising. After all, I am used to victory.

Mechakaiser1 votes

I'm not "bashing" Riven and Yasuo players, I'm telling you that in my personal experience every single one of them will later or sooner jump into melee range, and a good Mordekaiser player can use that opening to absolutely maul them. A good Mordekaiser will bait the enemy jungler and toplaner into a fight that they can't win and get a double kill. Very few people know how much Mordekaiser can heal, and the absurd amounts of damage he has. As for the "pressure thing..."

What the hell? Dude, any half decent Mordekaiser will aply the pressure of 3 champions by himself. The moment he gets his hands into a Dragon Ghost (and if the Morde knows what he's doing, he will) he is going to rape the enemy base and team. Riven and Yasuos mobility means nothing against the bullwark of seer stats that Mordekaiser is. Yes, he can get kited in teamfights where he tries to initiate, which is the reason why he never teamfights unless someone on his team his the one starting the fight.

BobaFlautist1 votes

What order do you level levels 1-3 and what do you max? My instinct would be to go for e because q would be hard to get off and I'm stubborn about w even though it's op as balls, but my guess would be that you would max w.

Malicious Metal5 votes

W max is always the way to go, don't want to pass up on the 380+0.6 AP heal.

I usually get E first, then W and then Q

In Yasuo lanes I go W first into Q and then E

Lyndris2 votes

Jes- erm SOL that is alot of power Oo

HeresyHorus1 votes

but dude morde Q linger time is too short and u have no way of forcing trades, both Riven Yasuo can dance around u after initiating at melee range than come back at u right after it expires.

i cant see how poor Mordekaiser fare good against them especially with his low move speed and long aa swing time ?

Stormraiders surge provides really strong sticking power.

And people always think Morde's Q is his main damage when W is so much stronger in the early levels.
