So whats the counterplay to veigar?

FOR JUSTICE··3 votes·2,220 views

Usually when i want to find out how to fight a champ, i play them myself to figure out how the heck im supposed to beat them (zoe was no different, i tried her and found out shes nothing without her e, and if you stay a good distance from your minions, her harass is non existant, and has terrible farming under tower, so shoving her is optimal).

I played this game vs a veigar support and realized "wait..... How do i do this?"

So naturally, i did just that and played him. Im still confused on direct counterplay, because the only thing i found is that he has terrible mobility, so a gank before level 3 is good for early snowballs, but then again, i can just cast event horizon on top of me for a get out of jail free card if i start it, or after lvl 3 (bonus points if im engaged and they hit it).

I can just pew pew farm and get AP, micro trading usually ends in me getting more out of it, and it dosent matter how you keep me down, once that timer hits 25, stuff is going down. If i miss my E, you're still zoned from creeps, and my w is almost garunteed from it if you're inside.

Any help is much appreciated

IDK about support veigar as much since he isn't very common.

The same ideas against mid Veigar should exist though.

I like to take Flash + Cleanse. His only defense is his E. You can flash through it. You can cleanse the stun. Once his E is burned and hasn't stopped you, he's pretty much a sitting duck. Of course, as a support that clear weakness isn't as evident (since he has an adc that can still deal damage), but I'd imagine the concept remains that, when his E is on cooldown (and it's a 20+ sec cooldown), he's very vulnerable and you should bully the lane. Much like you'd bully a Blitz while his Q is on cd.

He's easily bursted and immobile, and only has a delayed CC ability. Avoid his cc and hard engage on him. Obviously ganks are extremely useful for bot lane veigar, as he's not really helping his ADC at all outside of his E (which again, you can flash or cleanse to completely ignore).

I'd suggest just bully the heck out of his ADC, and if he tries to help then bully him instead.

Veigar's hypermobility and multi-CC chain capability is probably just more than you'll ever be able to handle. I suggest you GIVE UP NOW!

Ill give up when current aatrox becomes meta

Be absurdly aggressive and get a jungler to camp his lane early on. I say this as a Veigar player, he's really bad if you pick someone who can poke him out of lane really well like Xerath.

but what of the event that the jungle refuses to help? like if we also have a nasus or if botlane looks snowball in his direction?

That's a teammate problem, not a gameplay problem.

Early aggressive plays. Defensive items like banshees veil, zhonyas, guardian angel, etc. Ganks. Anything capable of removing/blocking cc like cleanse, mikeals, etc.

Veigar is a garbage champ that can fuck up ur whole team and needs a damn nerf but riot doesn't care about their player base anymore, riot only cares about the competitive play not the fun play like before

veigar dosent see too much competitive play actually. and neither does nasus.

I usually pick Brand into Veigar. Veigar really doesn't have any early kill pressure, and Brand's W can punish Veigar whenever he goes to last-hit with his Q.

You play aggressive in lane, push the lane, poke him under turret. Have your jungler gank him if he ever gets past the midway point, also support roams are super hard to deal with as Veigar. He's squishy and immobile and does very low damage early, any champion with somewhat decent shove and kill pressure can dumpster him in lane. The thing is that Veigar can still become a monster if you don't use your early advantage enough, and pushing up without wards can lead to you getting ganked instead so be prepared for that. Cleanse is a very good summoner spell for dealing with him since he relies heavily on his stun, exhaust works wonders too cutting his burst in half. If you still have problems here's a few champions that are nightmares to deal with as Veigar: Kata, Fizz, Zoe. Hope this will help. Veigar

Counter to support Veigar is basically the same as mid - avoid his abilities and run him out of mana and THEN engage. Any long distance CC helps too (Lux, Morgana, Zyra). Keep in mind Supp Veigar start spellthief so his mana regen is worse than with a Doran's Ring.

I have personally had recent, strong success against Veigar by playing Galio and rushing Banshee's Veil and Merc Treads. Galio's kit is pretty terrific for playing against Veigar, so throw some MR in there, and laugh as he can do nothing against you. Plus, if you're like me, you'll thoroughly enjoy being able to out-roam him with Galio's ult.
