So about akali

She's kind of bad since the assassin rework. Her win rate is 42%. It's even lower in the first 30 minutes of a game at 38%. As an assassin she does no damage. She feeds heavily. She doesn't get any gold. She can't CS. Virtually every match up for her is terrible.

@ghostcrawler How the bleepity bleep did this rework go live? Don't you guys have some kind of control in place to keep something like this from happening? Everyone who played her on the PBE said she was terrible, why did she get pushed to live?

I'm really starting to feel like this rework was to break her enough that she's a prime candidate for a VGU.

Akali is SO HOT4 votes

They were scared that Akali's shroud being unpinkable would make her broken even though it was very apparent that the change wasn't even that big of a buff on day 1 of the PBE cycle so they gutted her kit in addition to adding shimmer to stealth. They also have a track record of screwing up with every change they make to Akali so there's that as well. They also tend to rarely acknowledge Akali players when they make changes so there's that as well.

This is why I think they are trying to olaf her for a VGU and why I fear that VGU as well. I was looking at her champion.gg page and she's bad at virtually every metric there is. I get leaving a champ undertuned, but this rework currently is giving her nothing to play with.

I know riot has a fetish for counter play and there's a good reason for that, but a prerequisite for counterplay is play to begin with and ATM akali doesn't have much to work with. So what if she's unpinkable now? At the low elos no one pinked and at the higher ones which riot should be balancing for, good players can't make use of her new found W power.

The thing about this is that Akali was a bad champion before the pink changes. If Riot had just left Akali alone the pink changes probably would have made her a below average champ, she'd have been completely fine at that.

First off, Akali was already scheduled for a VGU before this. The update was to try to help her out a bit and give her a bit of outplay potential (the blink with the W) so that she could be played. However, in the process, they also nerfed her damage output heavily in fear of her strength without her being able to be countered by pinks, which broke her legs a bit too much.

Second, none of these problems are new. All of them are the same problems that Akali faced before the assassin update. Now, she can get onto her lane opponent to fight them a bit easier by using the shroud to blink, but that's about all that's better for her. Other than that, her problems are still basically the same, but the nerfs to her damage amplified them to after 6: before she hits level 6, she's lucky to get any farm that isn't under turret in any matchup that isn't against a melee. And they're the same problems Kassadin faces too. And any other melee assassin who doesn't have a gap closer without their ultimates.

Now, how I feel her VGU SHOULD go when it goes:

Q: now a skillshot, longer range, more damage, allow her to dash to the marked target

W: leave it basically as is, it's probably her strongest ability

E: I'm not too sure what to do with this one, though I think it would be better if it fixed another one of her problems: farming without killing her opponent first

R: again, I'm not quite sure. Maybe leave it the same but increase the damage, maybe make it something new, I dunno.

I'd say revert it to pre-gutting. It was better before season 7.

New shroud blows fucking chunks. Ask any Akali player, none of us asked for the dumb dash you think is so great. Its not like it came free of any cost. New shroud is super restrictive in its use. You can't use it for utility to get vision of a bush or over a wall effectively anymore, you can't aggressively throqw it forward, you can't defensively throw it backward, you can't use it to assist in farming.

Also you completely overlooked the changes to passive which gutted her damage and made her even clunkier. Fun fucking fact, full hp melee minions, you could last hit following two tower auto attacks. Now your auto's are so weak you can't.

Please refrain from ever commenting on anything regarding Akali again, you've illustrated your complete lack of a clue as to what she does.
