I rarely criticize Riot, as they do games professionally and all, but...

I really thought you guys learned from the past that nerfing one thing while simultaneously buffing another almost never worked.

Buffing a lot of champions in a class, and then buffing that classes items simultaneously almost always ends in disaster.

I love it when new seasons roll around, it keeps the game fresh and appealing, but honestly, I think you're laying some really crazy numbers on the table. I can understand that maybe you want to make ADCs an important focus next season, that's understandable. But you don't have to:

  1. Buff ADCs
  2. Give them extremely good items
  3. Buff existing items,
  4. Nerf their competition.

This is going to lead to a huge shift in game play. Which again, I love. And maybe it's my personal viewpoint that is making me uneasy (at my skill level I would consider myself competent at any roll excluding ADC, I almost NEVER play them) but to me this seems like you're just making mages seem niche, and ADCs, who were already completely necessary to the game, downright required to be realistically competitive.

I know a lot of people complained last season about how weak ADCs were, but honestly, they were the ONLY roll you would see in every single team composition. They didn't necessarily NEED a direct buff.

This is how preseason works. All bets are off. Nothing is going to be balanced well off the bat because they are going to push a lot of changes at once. There are going to be several patches to work through it before the next season starts though.

Buffing all their items?

Most of their items lost IAS, AD, or both.

Whisper hitting bonus armor is a huge nerf to their damage against soft targets and only a buff to hard ones when they have 700ish bonus armor.

Rangers by and large traded item power for kit power.

Like I've read in the pbe, "next season is going to be right click to win". Not fond of such stacked changes :/

I personally like the idea of "A Marksman Update."

To be honest, all the ADCs did seem similar and all the ADCs did seem very limited in itemization.

After a doran's blade and maybe a boots, you either went Botkr or IE, depending on the champion.

Then everyone would yell and say get this or that--follow the script and it was lackluster.

You pick Caitlyn, get IE, you pick Ashe, get IE, you pick Quinn, get IE.

It was the race to the B.F. Sword.

At least with the mages, each really felt unique and itemization was unique too. With most ADCs it was get IE.

I do not know if the items are all being buffed, but clearly IE was nerfed and so was Botkr, probably so it wasn't a race to get IE.

Personally, I think giving each ADC a niche is cool. I'm just really upset that my favorite ADC (Quinn) so far has the most useless niche.

Like, I'm excited for Vayne doing 12% True Damage (though that seems high), I'm excited for Graves having a shotgun (as a passive), and I'm excited for Kog'maw getting 5.0 attack speed. And none of these are an ult. But to make Quinn have an ultimate that just allows her to roam. That's upsetting.

The mages already have their own niches. And they got their new expanded itemization.

I already feel like I'm playing against a different champ when Ahri comes along, or Ziggs or Brand.

Not so much with Caitlyn, MF, Lucian, Graves or most marksman now.

I wouldn't say Riot messed up on updating Marksman and their items. I just think some ADCs were way better updated than Quinn. I mean--12% true damage, a SHOTGUN, 5.0 Attack Speed. These are distinct, unique, tasteful.

A 2 second channel to run into a lane (as an ULTIMATE no less) is bleh.
