Illaoi's ult seems kinda... Broken?

Frontline Fury··1 votes·1,429 views

And i mean in both definitions. Hitting a champion with Illaoi's ult makes her tentacles slam her target non-stop, like two times a second - even if Illaoi isn't attacking the target. Is it... Supposed to be this way? Along with her W making them slam her target, they also do this automatically every second. This makes for 5 tentacle slams (per tentacle) every 3 seconds, healing Illaoi for her missing health THREE TIMES A SECOND PER CHAMPION HIT - PER TENTACLE.

Is it REALLY supposed to be this way?

Yes, the ability is fundamentally broken. It enables her to kill you with the press of a button no matter how behind she is.

So much of her power is in the opponent's hands tho = that's why she's near useless if the opponent is good and knows how to play against her.

The champ is one of the WORST designed champs in the game.

hitting with R doesn't do anything but spawn the tentacles. The E debuff is what makes them attack you more often. She doesn't heal per champion hit, either; she heals for every tentacle that lands.

Is it REALLY

Yes. She's been in the game for four years now. You should well understand by now to get away from her R if you can't focus her down with your teammates or solo her.

In his defense, Illaoi isn't all that common, honestly, most of her power comes from people NOT knowing how her kit works.

No it doesnt. Making people walk away is just as valuable as killing them if you know what you're doing. Illaoi is a zoning champion and all she really needs is to make what time she spends in her R matter in the fight.

Yes, and that's false. Illaoi is good all the way to Challenger; she's arguably slept on by pros. You're highly undervaluing her zoning even though zoning is the champion's primary goal. If she's making you hesitate to go in on her then she's doing her job; her R is thus designed as the only time she can really fight. Its better for Illaoi if she never ends up in a situation where she never had to use R. Even if she never kills you, the continued threat of her E and R are just as powerful as the spells themselves.

I wouldn't say they sleep on it, I say they aren't scared of it, because it isn't that amazing.

I'm not undervaluing it, I just don't think it is that good when your entire zone potential is forced around you landing a single, slow, blocked by minion skillshot that also requires you being near a tentacle. There are literally signposts saying "Hey, I want you to fight me here, get out from behind minions."

If she's making you hesitate to go in on her then she's doing her job; her R is thus designed as the only time she can really fight. Its better for Illaoi if she never ends up in a situation where she never had to use R. Again, nice thought, but other champions can force pressure without needing prior set up, Darius can survive just as much zoning potential without needing prior set up.

Bold of you to assume top laners get teammates in diamond rank. You're on your own. The enemy top laner is not. If you don't carry, nobody does. Bot lane will lose their turret at 11:00, so you have to push as fast as you can. Make sure to keep your TP up to TP into drake and prevent the enemy jungler from taking it at 6 minutes. If you TP back to your lane to help you keep up with turretpusher 9000 you're effectively griefing your team (that refuses to help you out against her), so get that notion out of your head.

Yes, because you want to know how to make all that potential damage void? Walk away from her, just walk away. Illaoi is bar none, the strongest team fighting champion in the game, IF she is allowed to set up to be. Her power in her ultimate is insanely high because of the amount of set up it needs as well as how it functions. The next time Illaoi ultis you, literally just walk away, her kit doesn't have anything to chase you with so she can't stop you from turning around and walking away from her.

Yes. Walk away from her E. By the way you get out of it, you'll have lost 80% of your maximum HP from hitting your ghost - you're now not only slowed so much you're practically rooted, but there'll be at least two tentacles spawning in front of you and instantly slamming you without a visible hitbox because Illaoi's ult turns them invisible.

That doesn't happen if you didn't engage on her after she landed her E though, unless she is fed of course.

Uh, no. Illaoi Es you. Ults ghost. Uses W to catch up to you. You're dead.

That...doesn't happen at all o_O

If she is using the W to chase you down, her ulti tentacles won't be enough to kill your ghost.

Why would she have to kill your ghost? You get slowed anyway once you leave its AOE. If you don't leave the AOE, Illaoi just right clicks you to death.

No she doesn't, unless you have no armor and/or she is fed, Illaoi's W isn't enough to kill you before you kill her.

In fact, now that I think about it, if she is using her tentacles to chase you, her raw Ws alone aren't enough to kill you because they aren't being aided by more tentacle slaps especially if you are walking away from her.
