Ekko has so much utility and damage that he can be built full tank and still carry hard.

Its just like release Gnar: you can choose to build damage if you are ahead, but if you fall behind or your team demands it, you are just as good if not better building full tank. Ekko's base damage is insane, while his W and Q are such strong zoning tools and follow-ups to allied CC that even if you are feeding 0-10, as long as you keep up in levels and build full tank, you are still a teamfight terror.

Ekko can't carry. He's literally designed around KSing; he can't even kill an AD carry from 100% unless he's ahead by 3000-5000 gold.

Yeah he's pretty overpowered.

You can feed 0-10 and still carry as Ekko. He has Blitzcrank levels of 0 item utility with Vayne levels of damage when ahead.

Yeah, I'm aware. I killed him in lane as Darius, putting us basically even (he was outfarming me), with a slight lead on my part at the time (by only about 5 cs worth though).

He was pretty much impossible to kill after that. Though he didn't carry the game, he did incredible damage for a champion so safe and with so much utility. And I was running tank masteries.

exactly. He can build anywhere from full tank to AP bruiser to full AP and still be useful.

I like building him AD/Hybrid too

I'm not going to speak on Ekko's balance, because literally every game I've played since his release has had an Ekko on both teams, so I can't say how game-deciding he is. What I can say is that I specifically remember Gnar basically being complete trash on release, needing a bunch of bugfixes and buffs to become viable.
