Ideas for Morgana and Thoughts on Her Current State
Morgana is an oddball. A vengeful banshee supporting her allies and shielding them from harm? Doesn't sound right. She sees play mostly in mid lane as mage or bot lane as support. Why do people play her? She has hard, sustained crowd control, considerable burst, given her utility, and a low cooldown spellshield that can be cast on allies. She works well with an ADC at her side or by herself in lane. Her combo is undeniably frustrating, and can be devastating, especially when you lack the mobility to avoid it. This proposal focuses her more into the mid lane, cuts down on some of her annoyingly low counterplay, and just fits better thematically. I hope you enjoy!
P - Banshee's Spite: Being hit by crowd control reduces Morgana's active cooldowns. Morgana can mark enemies with her Q. Marked enemies are dealt a percentage of their missing health as bonus damage when she deals damage to them. Morgana restores health equal to the bonus damage dealt this way. (TL:DR She loses the guaranteed spell vamp in exchange for a more adaptive and engaging mechanic)
Q - Soul Flare: Morgana ignites the souls of enemies in a target area, damaging and marking them. For the next few seconds they take additional damage from Morgana and empower her abilities against them. (TL:DR No longer a projectile. Smaller radius than Karthus Q but is immediate rather than on a delay. Loses the low counterplay root, gains added ability effects)
W - Tormented Soil: No longer scales with opponents missing health. Against marked targets, adds a slow that increases the longer they remain in the affected area. (TL:DR The bonus missing health damage is gained through her mark, therefore no longer necessary as part of the ability itself. Gains a scaling slow that works in conjunction with her Q)
E - Wraith Form: Morgana becomes untargetable and moves faster for the next few seconds. She cannot cast during this time, however, enemies she moves through are damaged. In addition to the damage, marked targets are feared (TL:DR No more spellshield! The spellshield contributed to the lack of counterplay against her. Wraith Form is a unique form of mobility that functions similar to a spellshield, but allows her to more easily position herself where she needs to be)
R - Soul Storm: After a brief delay, Morgana erupts. For the next few seconds, souls pour forth from her, attacking random nearby enemies, prioritizing champions. Enemies struck are damaged and slowed, marked enemies are stunned instead. (TL:DR Away with more low counterplay roots. Instead of chains, enemies are attacked by a constant barrage of angry souls. The slow decays over time, but is not negated if they leave the area, making the ability more satisfying for Morgana players and more fair for her opponents)
Let me know what you guys think. The biggest issue I see people having is with wraith form, which is intended to only last for 1.5-2 seconds at max.
