just because you have a sightstone doesn't mean you are properly supporting your adc. Hell, lee sin build sightstone, is he a supp too?

Its brand support, he really doesn't need a dcap to do damage. Not to mention the utility of zzrot helps his team.

Eh, I'm a support. Honestly, that build provides more than enough damage to threaten the enemy team and melt people down. Brand doesn't scale great with AP (compared to other mages at least) anyways, working better with penetration.

I like Zz'rot Portal because:

It makes me harder to kill (and synergizes with my health from other items)
It is less expensive (more affordable on support budget)
The additional (conditional) mobility can be useful in certain situations

However, the main reason I like it is due to the Voidspawn. It is very useful in the late-game to let your team stay grouped (preventing people from getting caught out or engaged on 4v5). It is great for defending a lane when an inhibitor falls or keeping a lane permanently shoved without requiring a champion's presence.

Basically, I'm trading off raw damage for durability and map pressure.

I've never seen Ziggs carry a game to begin with so I'm pretty doubtful he can do it from the bot lane.

Ziggs isn't much of a carry, as much as I love him. He can stall and siege well, wave clear and harass side lanes with his R every couple minutes, but carry especially as a supp isn't his strong point.
