How does the placement system work?

NOTE: This isn't a hate thread about the placement system.

I won 6 and lost 4. I had a positive score in almost all of my games and even got a penta in it.

But I got placed in the lowest rank of them all. Bronze 5.

So I'm asking someone who knows it to tell me how it works. thanks! :)

Man, I have no idea. I lost 7 and won 3. I was definitely expecting bronze 5, but got bronze 3 instead. Where did you end last season? I know that's taken into account. I ended at silver 5.

I lost 7 and won 3 last season and got placed into Silver 5 and stayed there throughout the whole season. But I've for sure gotten a lot better at the game.

Just makes now sense how I do so much better this season and get placed a whole rank lower.

Guess you'll just have to climb back up. Sorry dude. But it shouldn't be too hard, I'd think. Good luck!

Basically everyone Drops and then they spend half the season getting back to where they were, then the other half hopefully climbing.. You arn't alone, everyone pretty much gets kicked in the knees.

It dropped you lower then you actually are (if you were ranked the previous season). It's a soft reset and people who deserve it will get back to their original rank fairly quickly.

I can tell you what does NOT affect your placements: your KDA or any kind of personal performance indicator. All that matters is whether you won or lost the matches.

No one knows exactly how it works because Riot hasn't made it public. It does take into account your ranking in the previous season, your opponents' MMR (in each match), your teams' MMR (in each match), and how many games you won. Can't tell you what has the most weight though.

If you are placed in a rank you don't deserve, you will rise! It's not your final rank. Placements don't matter THAT much.

I was g4 last season. I won 8 and only losing 2 and got placed in s4. I don't understand it. I'm looking at someone else in my tier and they only lost one game out 20. So they had high mmr last season, only lost one placement and still got s4. THAT SUCKS
