As for my main, I stuck with Nasus (almost 350k mastery) because I liked being a tanky raid boss who could 2 shot people and towers. I later bought Darius and he instantly clicked with me, he became my backup. After the Darius update I now play him far more than Nasus though, since Nasus's play style doesn't fit in with this season and Darius right now does almost everything Nasus does without a crippled early game or lack of hard CC. I still like Nasus more though.

I started out in League playing supporty mages like Orianna, Lux, and Karma. Generally I played them mid, but started gravitating towards the support position, which I found extremely fun, being a more teamwork-oriented role throughout the game. I decided I should probably try out some tankier supports like Leona and Braum and quickly learned the joys of telling people not to move.
And then, on a fateful day in October 2014... 
got reworked.
I looked at his kit. I listened to his VO. I watched his beautiful, glorious dance. And I knew. I was going to take this guy bot lane.
It was an uphill battle at first - no one would believe in support Sion (thank you, Teambuilder, for letting me find games with other weirdos who just wanted to try crazy stuff out). But slowly, they came to realize the glory of my new main. The more I played him, the more I fell in love with him. He had all the tankiness and cc of Leona and Braum - and then some! Not only could he lock down a single target, he could lock down an entire team! His shield made him incredibly chunky and let me make surprise engages. And his passive let me go all in to defend my adc without worrying about death - just get back up and go ham!
Eventually, I began taking Sion top and jungle to experience every aspect of his gameplay, as well as a few incursions into the mid lane. However, as much as I love Sion in any position, support Sion will always be my baby.

I don't really have a main. I just play whatever I feel like playing. There are of course some champions I simply can't stay away from for too long, 
and 
in particular (my 2 level 7's). But mostly I just have a "flavor of the week" champion or two, this week being

. I don't know why I can't settle down on a single champion, it just feels unnatural to me.
But I used to have a main. Back when 
was released I just looked at him and I knew I had to play him. He carried me from silver 3 to plat 2 over 2 seasons, and I've never really stopped playing him, only been taking some breaks from him from time to time.
I've actually had a lot of "mains" through the years who are still holding on, and which I have gotten level 5 with:

To be 100% honest with you, I had never played or even considered 
until she was in a dream I had one night. I can't recall what the dream was about, but the next morning I saw she was on sale. I felt compelled to buy her because of the dream and have been playing her ever since.
My boyfriend introduced me to the game and wanted me to pick a champion or two i was interested in. I actually started out on TV Tropes.com just to read lore and get an idea of everyone's characters. I immediately became interested in 
for her beauty, danger, and desire for vengeance and for her personality, lore, and being a freaking mermaid. It took me a long time to start seriously playing Nami, but Miss Fortune was the first champ I ever played and I've loved her ever since. I always feel comfortable playing her even though the ADC role can be a tad stressful. I still remember the night I saved enough IP to buy her, I must have played like 10 games that day.
Shaco was the first lol chanpion I knew about even before I downloaded the game, he's a crazy bastard with a twisted sense of humour who gets a kick out of everything dark (so it seems), and me being the guy who's kinda into that (not a psychopath or sociopath, been tested), I liked him, once he was available for a free week, I tried him out and... It... Was... Beautiful!
Come the Snowdon sales and the end of my lol hiatus, I began playing and practicing and loving the guy, I'm mastery 5 now, but soon I will be 6... Then 7
AND SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN THOSE I WILL COLLECT THE FINAL 3 SKINS OF HIS I NEED TO COMPLETE THE COLLECTION!
Two years ago they gave out free mystery skins to people with good behaviour, and I got Blade Mistress 
. I had bought Morgana at that point, but hadn't played her at all since I was pretty much just buying champions to buy them. I figured since I got the skin, I should go try her out and I HATED her. I felt so useless and very specifically remember feeling as though her ult was not an ult-worthy ability.
Flash forward about a year and a half and I played her again after one of my friends wanted to do a Jinx X Morg botlane because he saw it on a pro game or something and wanted to try the double snare. We did REALLY good that game, so we played it a couple more times, and than we tried Vayne X Morg, and eventually Morg became one of my go-to supports (I am a support main).
I reach a point with Morgana where I realized that she is broken AF (probably ~30 games), and now I basically only play morgana unless i'm playing a sustain lane, or occasionally I'll play Karma and Kat mid (I also play a lot of Morg Mid too Tho. And top. and sometimes even jungle.)
I've had a lot of mains over the years, from ryze and trist in season 1, rumble and vi in season 4, and garen in season 5. Throw in a good mix of jinx, morg, lux, leona, and trundle and I can't tell you for sure who I've played more.
I really just need to pick a champ and call it my main.
My story is pretty simular to yours, I also asked my friend which champion should I get, and he told me I should get Draven as my very first champion (he was about lvl12 back then so I don't blame him), I just bought some rp and got him before I was even lvl 5 (I know I'm an idiot for actually wasting rp on a champion), I started building him tank, and almost always ended up feeding. After about 60 games with him I finally realized I'm not good enough to play him, and I started picking up some different champions. When I reached gold I decided to try playing him again, and I can gladly say that I now main him.

Soraka
So, earlier this season, I was stuck in low silver and I knew I just had to stop playing ranked and just practice one champion, get that champ's mechanics perfect, and then perfect my map awareness and situational awareness in the process. So I went through all the supports, thinking which one I should choose. I wanted a support that had an incredible global impact and can single-handedly sway games if played perfectly.
So I picked Soraka.
I played only Soraka for 2 months straight, 3-4 hours a day (often times up to 8) until I got her perfect. Sure, I could still get a few things better. A lot of things, but most of that is general map awareness and situational awareness that also changes by the meta. But by the end of the 2 months, my positioning on Soraka in teamfights was near perfect, my silence placement was almost always snaring someone, my map awareness was drastically improved, and this originally boring champion to me became my most entertaining one.
So after those two months, I started playing ranked again. I got from Silver 5 to Platinum 5 just playing her. In a month and a half.

For Shyvana, dragons are awesome. Her abilities just fit my playstyle too, and jungling with her is super fun. You hit six, you see enemy jungler at level 5 and lower health, DRAGON.
For Varus, I've literally played two games with him and love him. His Q range is so massive and the damage, there's just so much damage! His E is an AoE, DoT slow that can also do fat damage. It also helps that my first game I got fed as crud from the enemy ADC and ended up 10/3 as the enemy team surrendered. It was great, and now I main Varus/Shyvana

very frequently as ADCs, i liked bot lane a lot and wasn't too interested in playing any other role/lane..i bought annie one day and i ended up really liking her playstyle, especially the advantages you can get with her stun! i'm on a quest to own all of her skins, and currently have prom queen annie and hextech annie. annie has really changed my playing preference in league, and i'm a mid laner now.
Well i played some Warcraft 3 mods/maps not very much Dota but more Arena, Hero Defence and something like that. There i liked ranged Heros with the ability to autoattack more then one enemy.
So after a little time Sivir was my favorite. The reason why i still play her today is 1st her Spell Shield and 2nd her Ricochet.
, at first I mained support sona and janna and I loved it, then my friends told me to try other roles, so i checked all the champs and i saw talon and orianna, i got hoooked on them, i was afraid of all mid laners as orianna, not as much as Talon, then I saw a LeBlanc, I had no idea she exsisted then i saw her stuff, I thought it was glitched, I was really confused about what was going on, then 2 months later I checked the shop and saw her i decided to try her out, I loved her w mainly I thought it was super cool when I saw it, then I practiced and saw that I can do fun stuff, and I just was obseessed since, shes to fun, shes my go to champ always.

Bought him the very first day he came out, bought his Elderwook skin. Bought Snow Day and then Chrome the days they were released.
I picked Azir because he is a fcking EMPEROR GOD. Noone can fck with him. Also because he is mechanically the most intensive champion in the mid lane, not to mention that I love to see my enemies cry.

At first I tried champs like velkoz and wukong who I saw some success with but then I found sona! Im a musician and full time music listener so I really connected with sona. I love the play style of her kit and I really enjoy kiting the enemy adc and the nuking them with q power chord lich bane. I also love hitting those perfect 5-man ults. So basically ive been playing sona ever since i tried her out. 250k mastery points on sona now.
I used to main Jayce, pre-rework nid, syndra, then kalista. (I went from top main, to mid main, to adc main). Now I just play all the adc's with no particular favorite. Weird not to have a main anymore.

My main is Zyra
mainly beacause she's nature themed. When I was little I would spend all day playing in my moms garden because I just loved how vibrant all the flowers were. Then when I joined League I looked for champions I could relate with and Zyra showed up. From the very beginning I knew I wanted to play support because I just wanted to help people and with Zyra I was able to do that. Part of the reason I got her is because I know in her lore it says she's all bloodthirsty and stuff but I view it more as she was struggling to survive and became desperate to live and I could completely relate to that. In a way she kinda inspired me to beat my depression and now today she's my most played champion and I just recently got mastery level 6 with her. She will always be my favorite flower in the garden that is League of Legends.
