alot of people DISPISE riven and think shes really op, but is she really? just building TONS of armor can get you ahead in lane and make her unable to kill you. Riven is a fed or famine type of character so if she not fed she can kinda fall off extremly fast. As a riven / fiora main this is from my experince. i win a lot of riven games but from time to time a malphite will come and just DEMOLISH me if i don't get the first kill.
People just don't like getting outplayed (and no, I am not a Riven main. I can't play her for the life of me). Plus most complainers have PTSD from when she was basically the best toplaner in the game.
She is no problem but I think she used to be real good last season though. Also maybe people give her early kills then get pwned by her and say OP :( Ruben is a pretty cool guy though and a good champion.
Riven's one of the weakest champs in the game atm and only dedicated Riven mains should even bother with her.
I don't really know anyone who thinks she is op. She has obvious strengths and obvious weaknesses. These strengths and weaknesses are just really pronounced. For every game I see a Riven snowball a game I see 2 or 3 more that don't do much at all the entire time.
She has some of the most combo options of any champs. She has a fuckton of ways to execute a fight, and nothing is wasted in between ( autos, spells, shields, stuns) every little thing about her is usable, unlike most champions. Almost no champions benefit at all from spells and auto weaving like riven does, so in the hands of a good player, she can feel godlike.
The only reason people don't cry about Riven or Vayne as much anymore is because the meta has heavily shifted away from them since last year. It's weird to think about how different the game was only a year ago. People are no longer abusing them because they can't.
Eventually the meta will shift in their favor again and we'll see so many threads complaining about how OP they are.
They have obvious advantages to their kits, so when they aren't oppressed by the popular champions in the meta they rise up quite quickly and their kits dominate the game.
You need to consider the meta when you ask questions like this as well.
It's not a question of if she's op, she's just really annoying
you can't really say that Riven isn't cancer because of the other cancer Malphite is.
The only time I ever knew Riven to be OP was when her ult had such a low cd you could use it, kill your opponent, your opponent respawns and comes back, and you'd have it ready again and you could just repeat the same dance over and over and over. Ah the good old days. Also that was like 4 or 5 seasons ago as well.
She's not overpowered, she's just a really badly designed champion.

Not OP, but just really unfun to play against. Losing 70% of your health because you tried to CS at level 1 isn't fun.
If you see a true riven master you will think she is OP.
Most everyone else that plays riven is a joke.
Part of the issues is that there is a whole nother level of riven play beyond what most champs have due to the animation canceling. If someone is really good at it then they are usually a major problem when riven is balanced for everyone else.
Riven feels like the most unfair champion when there's a large skill disparity between her and her opponents. Particularly when she's ahead, because as a bruiser you can make a few more mistakes than an assassin and not quite as many as a tank, and still stay in the goldilocks zone of damage/disrupt.
Is she currently Overtuned? I don't think so, her pick rate has dropped, and you don't see her as much.
