Does Nasus do better as an AP threat in today's meta?

Nasus will always be the late game god that he is, but with all the pressure during the early game and other champions that will just bully a regular Nasus out of lane super super hard, preventing him from reaching any sort of relevancy, would Nasus be better buying items like Luden's Echo, Gunblade, Sorc boots, etc so he can have some nice early game burst and wave clear?

And by better, I mean like, by today's meta is concerned, would he do better in building AP then in building his usual build?

Honestly, Nasus has never really been a mid-game god. At that point:

  • Enemies have the raw damage and armor/magic penetration required to kill him
  • Rylai's Crystal Scepter and/or Frozen Mallet and/or CC have been taken to kite him
  • Carries have been able to itemize defensive stats (armor and health) while Nasus can't itemize for percentage armor penetration
  • Teamfights occur frequently and Nasus is prone to being kited

He's always been much more of a mid-game threat since he is too durable to kill, deals too much damage to survive and teamfights are not frequently occurring.

Nasus just isn't a good option in the current meta. Sadly, you'll probably have to move on and wait until it shifts.

I'm not playing a lot of nasus anymore, but his E already steals enough CS and pushes hard if you're not used to stack and harass using it. The only times i feel my E should be my main source of damage is when i can't farm (and i don't mean 170- stacks @ 20 min,i mean having almost no stacks at all compared to time). Otherwise having it destroy your enemies armor combined with the OP slow it's enough to Nuke anyone with a Q+Trinity.

I saw a lot of AP nasus during ARUrf week, and all they did was spamming their E without stacking at all. Beaten all of them.

The only nasus i lost against in ARUrf was a fed regular Nasus (Trinity->full tank) who just could destroy our nexus turrets in 3 Q.

How did i play Nasus in ArUrf? item 3078 item 3110 item 3111 and i got so damn fed (almost 400 stacks @ 20 min and 16/2 or some like that) the i just continued a trolly build item 3812 item 3146 item 3065

Or well,i would've done it,but the game finished before i could get Death's dance :P Remember it was Urf tho,so Q every 2 seconds and less, permanent slows and continous DoT+Burst damage from E and Q powered by the armor reduction.

Also, playing an AP nasus would leave you without tankyness, and he has a passive with life steal,so It's not really build around that build.

Edit: Forgot to say 1 thing. Frozen Heart was for AS slow, enemy was AA heavy, also had a vayne,so i did need it a bit. I could've gone for a randuin though, now that i think of it :/

Or you can build Nasus to curb his weak areas. item 3025 item 3065 item 3111 item 3742 item 3748 item 3512 . This build has been what I've been using almost all season in ranked.

IBG, SV, Merc Treads are always your Core rush. I only Take Tabi's if the enemy team only has AP in the support role and even then Mercs is usually better to ward off CC then the damage reduction from Tabi's. Deadman's and ZZ' Rot for better MS and tankiness plus they give you pushing power, damage and stickiness. Titanic Hydra sounds bad but if you are a good Nasus you are not splitting all game and need wave clear and damage. TH will give you insane wave clear with IBG and massive regen as the cone procs life steal. I usually have my titanic somewhere between 450-700 stacks.

TF is too expensive and more itemized to serve ADC's or fighters with natural AS steroids like Jax. IBG will be better and more efficient in almost every situation.

AP Nasus works for roughly the first 15-20 minutes and then it is crap. Basically your E scales really well early, but then if falls off despite kills and the purchase of additional AP items. Try it out in an ARAM. AP Nasus is highly effective in shorter games, but in the longer ARAMs his damage is pretty low and he is easily kill.

You can try taking it mid. I am sure that you could push a lead against the average silver or bronze player to some wins. Better players though will keep the game going and then AP Nasus will literally just be an wave clear bot that can't do enough damage to kill any one.

Why is it that it's a question that I'm asking, and yet it's been downvoted..?

I can't ask questions without hate? :(
