I'm literally going to celebrate the removal of DynamicQ next season.

I'm going to go out, get drunk and throw an actual party once DynamicQ is removed from this game next season. No longer will I have to deal with premades and one sided matches because of a faulty system that should have never even been considered in the first place. I have been preaching the removal of DQ since it's release and now its finally happening, I'm just sad Riot had to sacrifice season 6 just for them to finally realize that this system is unhealthy for the game.

Edit: Yes I know it;s not being "Removed" but now I have a choice if I want to queue up for it or not. The answer is I will never ever Queue up for flex Q if it means having to deal with or vs premades.

I haven't heard a coherent argument from any of the critics about what is wrong with dynamic queue, or even a clear understanding of what it is.

As far as I can tell a small collection of streamers / master level players with unique problems not represented by 99% of the rest of the player base doesn't like dynamic queue due to unusual mismatches from the system trying to create an equivalence to their elo.

Somehow the "fuck dynamic queue" meme caught on with the masses without any real concept of a better way to address the obstacles for which dynamic queue was designed.

But have fun.

It's because;

  1. people who soloQ do not want to get stuck with a 4man premade facing a 5man premade.

2)you can string together ranks so bronze > silver > gold > plat > diamond can create a daisy chain and play together creating a huge imbalance in MMR and where people should be placed

  1. it encourages legal boosting (not someone on your account but playing with a person or group)

We had 5v5 ques and a solo/duoq which worked fine without a hitch they changed something for the sake of changing not for actually making it a better system they did in fact create a worse system.

We still have a 5v5 que now so dynamic que is wtf.

New system provides flex que (same as dynamic) solo/duoq and a 5v5 que, catering to everyone.

I'm pretty sure about 80% of the "im a solo que person w/ a 4man premade" just think so because the other 4 people on their team don't agree with them or are "bad". Just saying....

Oh absolutely. I frequently looked up the original poster complaint about 4 or 5 man premades where they claim they lost due to it.

You look up their game history and about 90% of the time the players they played with OR against have NO history of playing together or there was maybe ONE duo on their team or the opposing team

The other 10% of the time they were correct in their assessment. I did this for at least 20 threads over the course of this season.

Yes, I got very tired of the threads from players that were complaining about a loss and blaming it on the "fact" that they played against premades.

There were more floating around during the start and middle of the season. Do not see as many of them now.

A lot of the times you just get beat by a superior team. If you are bad, you will find an excuse, and if you are a good player you will work on improving.

Some games are unwinnable, even if you play very well. But the likelihood of that occurring for the other team is about the same if you are approximately the same elo.

I really think simply playing consistently well, is enough to climb out of most different Elo divisions if you have not hit your skill ceiling. When you begin to have more bad games than good ones, you are likely playing against players that are simply better than you and you need to look at other aspects of your game in order to improve.

4-man premades that don't have a history of playing together are actually the most dangerous to be grouped with. The way DQ matchmaking works is that when a premade is formed, the system assumes they have an advantage for being premade, and so matches their team with a team of significantly higher skill. But not all premades have advantages, sometimes they're just friends of friends that happened to queue together for the first time and don't even have voicechat. Which means that the poor solo sod got shoved into a totally unfair and lopsided match just because 4 random people decided to queue up together for the party rewards or whatever.

But of course, just because they don't really know eachother, don't think for a second that they will have any hesitation before jumping onto the soloer for a scapegoat.

Often you can see it in their clubtag though

Oh please, don't act like people haven't been exposing the issues of dynamic queue since that shit got implemented.

But yeah lets play ignorant and ignore all the arguments brought out against it that made riot make the decision of removing that garbage.

Have fun getting boosted on flex queue and waiting 30 minutes for a game.

It's pretty hard to write a short answer because this is just such a wide spanning and complicated topic. SOme personal experiences anyway:

First of all DQ consists of two seperate changes, with their own set of problems: The new champions select and the unification of team and solo q.

1. The new Champion select: Guess the goals were to make people able to play what they wanted more often, while also removing the good old "mid or feed" syndrome. It was quite succesful in that regard. For me personally however, it does a lot of things worse than the old system

  • First of all the state of the support role. It's gotten so bad, that Riot actually has to threaten the players into playing support/fill once in a while. In the old days support was something that everybody was required to be able to play half decend. You would get that last pick once in a while and that was fine. In return you rarely got blamed for not beeing able to perform that well, if you didn't get your prefered role. (personal experiences may differ though :P)

  • Champion select in general was alot more interactive. It had it's own unwritten rules (first come, first serve), and as long as people were obliging by these rules it could actually be quite interesting and fun. From what i remember there always was alot of communictaion about who would go where, what to pick etc. Players COOPERATING ... and that was silver and gold. Now i am platinum and i rarely ever see any of that. Everybody just pre-picks that one champion they main and be done with it. I am no exception either.

  • Since everybody started maining champions and roles, the game atmosphere got alot more dense. With that also came more ingame toxicity. For me, the system basically traded pre-game toxic behaviour for in-game toxic behaviour.

In my opionion, the toxicity issue never was a problem with champion select itself anyway. It always has been a problem with the generally toxic community and lack of supervision of champions select (pre-game chat not beeing part of tribunal reports etc.). The new champion select for me is like saying: "Well, since your are a bunch of asocial a- holes anyway, let's make a system tailored towards asocial a-holes!"

2. One Queue for everything

  • Again, my personal experience: Since these changes where introduced, my friends and me got into kind of a smurf frenzy. We are a group of 2 plat, a few silver and 1-2 bronze. In Team Queue we could just play ranked together anyway. Now it's almost impossible without smurfs. I myself am guilty of boosting my friends a little, because there was just no other way to play together with them.
  • There is also the infamous 4-premade situation of course. I myself only experienced this twice, but what an experience it was! You just can't do anything in those games. You are completely cut from your teammates coordination, while having to face well coordinated ganks etc. from your enemy. It left me completely disoriented. I don't even remember how those games went. I just remember the feeling of never ever wanting to experience that again.

My main issue is the difference in rankings it allowed into a game.

In the previous seasion, most players in my games would be within about 3/4 divisions of one another (excluding duos screwing with it). This season, it was pretty common to see players within a match range across 7+ divisions.

Deep Terror Nami3 votes

You guys do know that it's not actually going anywhere, right? They are adding Solo/Duo Queue, yes, but DQ is just being renamed to Flex Queue and will incorporate Team Ranked and its rewards.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

Yet.

They did mention that they would replace Flex Queue with Ranked 5s if the population wasn't sufficient to support it.

Considering many solo and duo players will probably gravitate to Solo/Duo Queue, I could easily see three- and four-man premades having difficulty filling their remaining slots.

DrCyanide1 votes

Honestly, I'm going to stick to Dynamic/Flex queue. Solo players are idiots, I can get more done when my team has some coordination between themselves.

Swiftstrike42 votes

I found the original post ironically funny that he will be throwing a party about the change of the ranked party system.

I actually think one of the queue's will disappear by the end of the this next season. In order for flex queue to survive solo players need to queue in that play list OR it can only have a queue size of 2, 3, or 5.

ff4sk1 votes

Goodbye flex queue then, I'm not touching that shit even if they threw free wins at you

tacofacefart2 votes

Don't know why you got down voted so much. My worst experiences this season have been with premade cancer. Its almosy like you can tell how bad they a play they are premade trash . The trashiest players do premade games and just make everyone else experience awful .

GamblerOfLives1 votes

party?? you can't party by yourself bud, u need atleast 2 more

NiamhNyx1 votes

I will say dynamic queue made the climb quite interesting for us solo players. I got matched with a lot of 4 man premades that never talked, pinged or anything else, probably because they were in voice chat.

Limmie1 votes

You'll still have to deal with duos though. Solo queue should be exactly that, solo.

Sukishoo1 votes

If you want 100% solo go play a solo player game :P

Limmie1 votes

I don't want a solo game, I want a solo queue lol. As in everyone is in the same level from the get go.

Sukishoo1 votes

but it's a team game and people have been smurfing for years, so it's never going to happen. So, Solo/Duo/Flex there will always be something off.

Hyperiön1 votes

Solo/Duo has been around since the beginning of the game. Won't make a difference. 2 people can't change a game, its only 40% of your team.

Limmie1 votes

A Diamond 1 smurf duoing in a bronze/silver game can make all the difference actually. Or a duo botlane, or a solo lane/jungler duo. It made sense to allow duos in solo queue when there was only one queue, but not now that there are 2 queues. Premades should go into their own queues regardless of size. And tbh it's really weird that they didn't make duos go into the flex queue, because it makes trios a lot less viable and flex soloers all that much on demand. It's a move that really, REALLY compromises the health of the flex queue and so I have a feeling the flex queue will be a real flop in the end.

I don't mean to be a negative nancy though, I'm happy we got rid of that abomination that was 4-man premades and all and this is definitely an improvement. I'm just sad they didn't go all the way to fix the premade problem.

Hyperiön1 votes

Well yeah, smurfing in general has an impact, but you don't see it very often, or at least I don't.

People may have coms in a Duo Bot lane, or Solo/Jungle, but odds are, there will be a duo on your team as well.

I like being able to just duo with 1 person every now and then, it makes it not as boring. And then when I want to practice with my team, I can hop over to Flex.

TBH, I hope it does kill DQ, that ruined the competitce nature of the scene. I hope it burns. Knowing Rito, they will see that and give them even more rewards for doing into flex over solo.

Sukishoo1 votes

It's not going anywhere, it's just being renamed Flex Queue...

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

The answer is I will never ever Queue up for flex Q if it means having to deal with or vs premades.

Since Solo/Duo Queue and Flex Queue are supposed to have different end-of-season rewards (with something extra if you get both), I'll play Flex Queue enough to hit Gold solely for that.

Solo/Duo Queue will definitely be my preferred choice. There is really no reason not to since it will be considered the "competitive" ranked queue and I almost exclusively queue solo.

If I decide to keep climbing in Flex Queue after that, it would be because:

  • I want to reach Platinum in both as a point of pride
  • I'm bored and want to climb through Gold again for the hell of it
