Sure there's the classic orianna or fizz (out of all the assassins) but fiddlesticks can have an early sustain with drain while having his ult to kill an adc late game. Glass cannon fiddle sticks and zhonyas?

His ult is completely dodgeable if he doesnt get the element of surprise which he often doesnt have due to the increased warding the new season has. Furthermore, middlesticks isnt the most viable of options. Its squishy, its easily denied, it has poor mana, and in all ins he will often lose if the enemy has something to interrupt his w e.g syndra e, ziggs w. Moreover, if he goes jungle the team loses out on a tank and although he can have good iniation, in a teamfight if his ult goes to waste (not uncommon) he is dead in the water. In contrast i think fiddlesticks can indeed outshine orianna when there is a strong iniator such as malphite or amumu on team. If he has someone to keep people in place as he ults the result is often completely broken.

Starlighte1 votesFiddlesticks mid is awful. He is so glassy and easy to gank that he just ends up feeding. Sure, his ult does the deeps. But you aren't interested in damage if you're looking for a teamfight mage. Teamfight mages offer utility or a constant source of poke/cc/pick potential. Morgana Ziggs Orianna Lux etc. are all teamfighting mages.
Please, for your team's sake as well as your own, don't touch fiddlesticks mid. A competent Lux Syndra Yas or Zed could 100-0 him at every point of the game post level 6. His base stats are bad and his laning is pretty awful, not to mention RNG will always seem to play against you.
