Does anyone else dislike the concept behind brand/zyra support?

They abuse aspects of their kit in bot lane that isn't inherently op mid lane but pretty oppressive bot lane. Zyra's summons multiple plants from range that makes trying to trade with her unrealistic while being uninteractive for the enemy since running away is usually the best option. Weak defense stats, range, and his passive makes Brand support so obnoxious to play against especially if your an immobile adc. Making Brand's W similar to Cho gaths rupture would make brand support so much more healthier and interactive to play against. Not to sure about Zyra but maybe lowering her range to put herself more at risk?

Call me biased, as Zyra support is my most played champion. However: I like that. Not every support should be played the same. We have protective tanks, defense mages (healers, buffers, enchanters), offensive tanks. I personally like the idea of offensive proactive immobile squishy. I find this really fun. These are high risk, high reward picks in terms of "I will win this lane hard or I will be as useful as a nipple on a man later". For me these are picks, where you need to actually play the game while supporting, instead of hiding, healing/shielding teammates or CC whoever is attacking them. So I personally enjoy them. In order to answer you - no, i do not dislike the concept of mage supports, I like it a lot. P.S. I ALWAYS but sightstone when I support. Vision wins games!

They're both incredibly squishy and immobile. This makes them vulnerable to hard engage, snares, and ganks. Shields and heals are also very effective against them like with any other poke support. I won't argue that poke supports aren't annoying, but annoying doesn't mean overpowered. Oh also healers tend to give them issues.

Taric gets smashed in lane by these guys. His mana costs are way too high to keep up with their poke plus his heal is very weak.

You don't heal off their damage, you stun them and all-in.

As long as the brand/zyra know how to kite and position properly you will not get close enough to stun before taking a lot of damage and opening your self up to a counter all in.

I'm more concerned of how little they actually do after lane or later game.

Very little peels, and if they don't go full AP (or have enough gold for them) don't expect too much from them either.

With the glories of damage creep from ADCs they actually have to worry about getting caught in lane and even some supports with "shit poke" can chunk them down pretty quickly as well, so they're not as oppressive as compared to before.

I enjoy playing zyra support from time to time. And I play her more support than mage. I am tired of going against brand supports but not much I can do about it, a ban for brand isn't worth it.

I main Zyra and get why she's annoying in lane but if you want to counter her you need a heal support. she's pretty good playing against tank supports.

Its not that they are annoying (I definitely think Yasuo is annoying but certainly not broken or non interactive to play against). Its less of an issue for Brand ( a little bit but not like Zyra) where she just summons plants and are basically forced to back off since almost no one (possibly no one?) can trade with her and expect to win or even get close enough to trade before dying. Basically Zyra support seems pretty binary for me aka a case of feast or famine.

Brands most OP part is the ult. People don't know how to run away but not stack. Like come on man. His w is not terribly hard to dodge. I am much more concerned with Zyra. Her spell damage area is huge. Ult takes up the hole lane. Her root is like 3-4 time the size of an ADC wide and so GD long. And then her spines cover the hole lane. Fuck me can that ult get any bigger. Her cool downs are super low. The Random plant spawns range is huge. So really she is super annoying all around, her kit makes an even fight 1v1, 2v2 pretty easy to harass, push towers, zone CS, like it's a bit much. Yeah she is squishy but item 3116 item 3027 item 3151 easily puts you over 2000 maybe 2500 health so she wins trades and can't be single busted by assassins more then likely. Brand is really strong too but his EQ combo is predictable and W at least has a delay to dodge and ULT can be mitigated by not stacking. Zyra is one of the biggest bullies in the game... Period.
