Why the hell do people on my own team ban Ekko when they see that I've picked him?

**Vent I don't expect everyone in Bronze to notice the champion that I've selected, but this is getting annoying. Specifically when i choose to go Mid Ekko, someone on my own team bans him. If this were ranked and I was playing a new champion I would completely understand the logic. Maybe it's just the fact that most of the Bronze population is 13+. Does this shit happen to anyone one else that actually plays Ekko mid? I rarely want to play him and when I do, this is usually something that occurs. Sometimes I think that theyre just being stupid kids or whatever.

This is the reason why. They don't want the other team to get Ekko.

While most of the time it's debatable if you should ban a teammate's champion pick, this is one of the rare cases where it's warranted unless you know that the person who picked Ekko is first pick.

He's getting nerfed soon, so you should be able to play him again. However this whole tanky Ekko thing has reminded people why they hated Ekko in the first place.

A high utility assassin should never be a thing. I'd suspect to see him banned in a quarter of your games for a week or so after the nerfs.

Unless you're pick is first or second (or your teammates are trading it for you), you're team would be taking a risk that the enemy would pick Ekko before you do, if it wasn't banned.

Trust me, I completely understand how you feel, but I rather remove the potential threat than needing to deal with it, if it happened.
