If there's One thing I love about Morde's rework it's how flexible his build has become
Prior to his rework it was often just the same old burst build but with patch 5.16 Morde actually got the option to itemize depending on the enemy team, the role he wants to fulfill and generally the situation at hand.
There are only a select few wasted stats on him and he can make great use of both AP, AD, HP and Resistances, making him able to opt for a variety of different play styles and builds.
I've yet to see someone come close to the sheer diversity of Morde builds that actually work and I myself have been changing up my builds ever since the rework.
Two of my more commonly used builds last season were:
A standard Hybrid Juggernaut Build

A 40% CDR DPS oriented build

With very minor changes those were my two builds for top lane Mordekaiser, running stuff like SOTA and
![]()
Now, with the preseason I've come to appreciate another build that relies more on heavy early-mid game prowess and translates into a strong late game
as the core, finishing up with stuff like
Not only this but by running Stormraider's surge and
while taking Mordekaiser mid you've got yourself a pain train that got no brakes, being a great counter to Mid lane Assassins and Mages while allowing your top laner to actually pick a Tank to make use of Courage of the Colossus
Tl;DR; Morde might be made of Iron but he ain't brittle but hella flexible.
