It hits hard and wins fights early. We get that. The issue is that it's literally unable to fight any marksmen or team fight after the 25 minute mark or so, give or take depending on your performance. Don't play full AD Garen, get a strong KDA, and not realize you're the reason why you lost later in the match because you can't even look at the enemy right without dying because you fell off harder than a Pantheon. Don't be that guy.

you can do plenty of damage with cleaver, a lethality item and then either all-tank after or a defensive AD item like maw sterak's or GA

This Is Your Dad1 votesI actually play garen as a mage. I buy full magic penetration so that my ult will do the most damage it can. Also, rylais torment spin is op. You can use zhonyas to become invulnerable so you have access to your passive regen faster and use protobelt as a much needed gapcloser. Finish off with a voidstaff and abyssal mask for maximum damage amplification and penetration on tanks.
