Grievous wounds?

This has probably been answered before, but does it no longer exist in league? If so then why? Wasn't it the basic counter to champions like ? A friend of mine had a match with him previously and the whole team could do nothing against him (the whole team couldn't. Granted it was a normals and blind pick. So people couldn't grab ignite in response).

The only reason I can think of why and other champs with such weakness to it haven't been a big topic lately is because everyone is focusing on , CertainlyT, ADC's, or just hate on the current meta in general.

item 3165 Varus Katarina summoner 14 are still sources for Grievous Wounds. It's being phased out of the game, as apparently reducing the value of healing is considered toxic by Riot's balance team.

One item, two champions, and a summoner spell?

Wow...I have no idea what will happen when it's removed, but I can imagine that the game will be hell for at least a week.

I'm pretty sure Grievous Wounds predated Blade of the Ruined King as a way to deal with healing and hp stacking, your reference to Mundo being a prime example of that, so I'm thinking maybe they feel it's not necessary any longer. I can tell you that whenever there's any of the following: DrMundo Soraka Sona Nami Vladimir Swain on the enemy team, I do whatever I can to make certain that I have one of those four things available on the team to deal with them.

Here's the problem. Your team has healing. 3 scenarios:

GW exists and the other team has it.
GW exists but the other team doesn't have it.
GW doesn't exist.

It's impossible to balance 1 and 2, if GW is easily available. Either your healing is too weak in 1 or too strong in 2, there is no middle ground. In 3, you can actually balance healing.

Note that I didn't say GW can't be balanced, period. Something like Morello's is actually a good way to implement GW, because it helps finish the enemy off without just flat-out making their healing useless.
