ARAM: when was the last time anyone had an aram that felt remotely fair for either side??

title. It's been a loooooooong time. It always feels like "ok we have 5 of the worst aram champs, and they have 5 of the best that also counter our specific champs normally"

It would be fair more often if everyone had every champion unlocked for ARAM. At least then everyone had the same odds of getting something good.

True, but that's a crappy way to do it and I'd quit the moment that gets implemented. There are so many champions I do not care for and a measly 2 rerolls ain't gonna cut it when I have to deal with those damn roster unlocked.

EDIT: Besides, fair doesn't mean it'll be good or fun. You'll still end up with these unfair match-ups, making it fair doesn't make that fun.

You'll still have a chance to end up with a skewed matchup, but it levels the playing field for both teams. I own every champion, but it feels like I get punished for it in ARAM. I think I'd honestly just be happy with gaining more rerolls back per game based on how many champions you own since the likelyhood of getting something terrible is much higher as you own more. I don't know, I just know it's absolutely not fun to go against ARAM only accounts that get something OP nearly every game since they own nothing.

No amount of rerolls is ever gonna fix that. And just because your idea is fair doesn't mean it fun.

I only own about 40 champions and even I feel like I'm being punished for it. But I don't go around asking that everybody should have a bad time by forcing every champion in the game on everybody that plays ARAM. Having the ability to white/black list your champions for that mode would be so much better.

In addition having a 2 reroll standard per match instead of this shitty charging system we have now can help with fixing bad team comps.

The issue is the abundance of people willing to dodge in ARAM, so if someone see their ARAM comp is crap (or even 'only ok') for ARAM, theres a fair chance one of them will dodge. When a game does go through, it often means at least one team has a strong ARAM comp. Dodge penalties people might actually be more inclined to care about might help this.

Theres also the ARAM only accounts with only specific champs unlocked. Unlocking all champs for the mode would solve this, but it also has other issues for people who have vehement dislikes for more than a couple champions.

Related, those with relatively small champion pools are more likely to have their personal pools diminished from the other 9 player in the game, so just because someone has 20 available champions (including free ones) does not mean that they have a 1/20 chance of getting any particular champion, so that can make things feel less random too.

This is actually a good point about the dodges. It bears consideration when I'm playing those frustrating games.

As for the ARAM only accounts, I agree that they are the reason I see certain champs game after game in some cases. However, last night, I rolled Master Yi in 3 games, and Mordekaiser in 2. I only saw a total of 6 games (played 5, 1 dodge) which is a weirdly dense champion roll for me when I only am missing 14 champions atm. Thankfully since I suck with both, I was always able to reroll or trade Yi, but I had to play Mordekaiser once. Sometimes it just doesn't smell right when I get the same champion over and over when so many in the pool are left up (9 other people have a champion locked for my RNG basically, but that's still over a hundred champs)

It's a random game type. Do you really think it's going to be fair?

Hethalean1 votes

RNG doesn't usually always end up 10cc on one side and 0 cc on the other. lol if so many champions have 3 cc in their kit, it takes a lot of work to awlays stock pile it onto once side. It's like saying "oh it's just rng" when you get the same champion in 3 games across a total of 4 games, like 12 times in a row when you won 90% of champions.

Random is random. If you want fair, or more fair, go play regular games.

lol the thing is i do not believe it is actually random... which is why i have a history of all my rr's and trades for the past 1000 games (lots of dodges). just need to perform a statistical analysis on it. Pretty sure when you own a champion for over a year, it shouldn't take far over 1000 games to see it in aram. especially when i see the same champ over and over

Moooose31 votes

If u do some chi squared analysis or something similar on it, and find data that means it isn't random, let me know. Actually curious.

I don't think it's random either. I've played eight ARAM games in the last week and got Ashe in 7 of them. Yes, seven. (Not on this account, will not be in my history.)

Did you also keep track of your champion pool at the time and the weekly rotation?

I would love to see your results.

Hethalean1 votes

I did not keep track of my champion pool. I should have. When I started I was missing some 30 champions. Probably going to really just ruin my results actually.

Valderis Vandala1 votes

Damn... Yeah that can be a real problem, its going to skew the results away from those champions in favor of those you do have. And you will also be unable to see if free champions have any effect on the system even if you do own them.

Tis a pitty. But hey, all it'll take is another 1000 games to do it right. XD Good luck man.

EDIT: If you truly want good results you need to keep track of everything, and I do mean everything. Even the champions of your teammates, your rerolls, their rerolls, all the trades that happen, etc. Because they are all factors.

Valderis Vandala1 votes

So? Advocate for players being able to white/black list their champions for ARAM already. That'll somewhat solve that problem for ya.

Hethalean1 votes

I've actually made several posts in this light.

Valderis Vandala1 votes

Ah... Well, good for you. XD

And thank you for making those, our cause will continue.

The game will never be balanced for ARAM. That's a novelty League added because it had quite a following but it's never going to be the priority. They'll add a few items here and there to help with the balancing but that's it.

My last one actually.

We kept getting back to back aces. We ace them at our base, run to their side, they ace us and run back to our side. It lasted like...10 minutes before we got the win.

Nice!!!!!
