This Game Needs Lower Damage Like Before

Thank you for releasing the little mini runes. I can take +5 armor and +5 armor, but i want more. I want what I used to have. I would use my old rune pages to get the scaling armor, up to +27 late game. and between 9 and 27 scaling magic resist depending on whether I wanted 10% CDR blues or not. I know you don't like the old runes, but there is less armor and magic resist in the game now. There are also more damage runes in the game compared to before. I hope you are aware of the state of the game where damage is just so god awfully high and quick right now. I argue that lower damage, or greater access to defense, would benefit this game.

My point is supported by a couple ideas. On hit builds and lifesteal depend on the ability to get auto attacks in, which are gated by attack speed and whatnot. When someone dies within the time to do a 2nd or third auto, those builds are dead. Nobody can tank a drain tank with lifesteal now with all the damage in the game. A tank's purpose in this high damage meta is to do plenty of damage himself, because he can, and/or lock down the opponent so his glass cannon teammate can come along and 1-hit KO the enemy. That's sort of messed up. In the past, in the "tank meta," the tank had massive sustain and a scary presence. However, lifesteal and on-hit builds could whittle him down. There was more access to more diverse strategies that could counter the tank meta.

Perhaps if you tank up the meta, some builds would suffer. I imagine the assassin builds would suffer. This could be easily taken care of, though. Maybe introduce an assassin item for AD, AP, or some hybrid item that lowered enemy resists for a 2 second window, with like a 45 second CD or something such as aftershock. It'd be like duskblade, where when you attack, it lowers resists in a manner such as last whisper or void staff, but for a period of time only, with a cooldown as well. It would be more effective on tanks than it would be on a squishy, due to percent armor/resist reductions. You could do something such as this, while also approaching the likeness of the old tank meta by lowering damage across the board. Crit might also suffer, but it suffers even in this meta, so I'm sure it could be buffed to be a competitive choice.

The issue with this meta is that choices are too restricted. If you don't have movespeed, like Mordekaiser, well, you get deleted in 1 combo from one of the enemies before you can even get in range. Mordekaiser would be competitive in a lower damage setting where he could live long enough to walk into a teamfight, do some things, get some shields, W a teammates for a chase or escape. Mordekaiser can't do anything but blow up in this meta. Similarly, one could say that Anivia has no move speed and should similarly be bad, like MOrdekaiser, but she BENEFITS from 1-shottting ppl. Just ulti, Q, wall to funnel them into the Q, then E,and they're dead if it's midgame. Champs with the tools to get their damage rotations in prior to taking damage just dominate in this bursty meta. In the slower meta's of the past, the hulking, slower, classical champions had a fighting chance. The lifesteal builds had a fighting chance. So too did the on-hit builds. The Muramana builds. All of that is over and you either pick a smart champ or it's CERTAINLY GAME OVER.

Please, tank up the game. Put 10 armor back onto ninja tabi. Put 10 MR on mercury treads if you have to balance out the boots. Give us easier access to slow down our opponents' damage outputs. I want to return to trades, engages and disengages. I'm so sad the state of the game is as it is right now, but it's not difficult to take baby steps in returning it to the state in which you became the most popular game in the world. You have access to all the data and statistics, but if you're not careful, you're going to churn your audience and then if you anger the newcomers, the customers move on, and your old ones who spoke to you for years are gone already. This game is so lovable, but I'm playing it with rose tinted glasses. Once I take those off, I could be right back into other games again. Please return to older game conditions. Thanks.
