You are great at portraying there are no problems

There are problems. Damage is so high that the small leads of today are worth large leads of old. 1 or 2 early game kills turns into a game where you get over 20 kills and do more damage than 60% of the enemy team. Games become horrible quickly because of high damage and leads. Tower plating is interesting in that it slows the game to what it seemed to be before, but it is the high damage that caused the problem in the first place ( the problem of 17 minute losses in Season 8). That high damage is still here. We lost to a Neeko 2 games ago that ran around instant killing everyone. We even tried piling on her and she killed everyone still ... 1 shotting half the team. The problem is definitely damage and Riot doesn't post responses to our complaints about damage. They do add more damage to the game, though. Runes Reforged affected the damage vs. defences availability in Runes and Masteries, and this is how they could balance the game to be better. We need better runes for defence that actually make a difference, as well as defensive items that work. Until strategic buys do more than simply reduce overkill, but create opportunities to survive through multiple rotations, they won't help you win games. Overkill on 1 rotation eliminates any hope of playing a defensive game against a fed damage dealer. Items need buffs and runes need some love. Lower the damage please.

And of course Riot doesn't address any of this.

If the boards are any indication, the biggest problem seems to be that a large portion of the player base refuses to believe there's a problem, and will attempt to viciously destroy anyone who says there is. With vehement partisans defending their garbage game, is it any wonder Riot doesn't want to clean house? Why spend man-hours fixing the game when they could sit back and collect cash while their sycophants convert the masses?

lol reddit: wtf are you talking about? youre the type of person that ruins this game.

100% what they'd say

I think that the high gold bounty’s and turret playing golf is too high... people power spike really fast and the mr itemization is laughable.

Edit: Armchair devs mad. The truth is you all have no idea how balance works and dont understand cause and effect.

Lol, what? This has been the single most vocal topic all season.

Nobody denies damage is too high, but it wont change right before worlds. Wait for preseason.

Screaming "riot bad" wont fix it, it will require a massive overhaul and rebalance of basically every champion along with adjusting runes and items.

even the defence tree of runes gives damage. there is no end to it

Get rid of Runes Reforged all together and just keep the Keystone masteries. The game started not being fun when they added all these horrible runes that are one sided, useless or broken on certain champions. Also, fix the horrible matchmaking and punishment system.

I've recovered form being killed once or twice in lane, and had enemies do the same to me. one or two kills feel like such a detriment because people refuse to play safer after they've been killed once. Seriously, you must have had that one dumb teammate who is 0/5 and still goes on the duel the enemy, AGAIN, on their side of the lane with no vision in the river. Happens ALL THE TIME.

This game has simply become more unforgiving to bad play. But you will find that not everyone detests that.

High damage alone wouldn't be a problem. The problem is, that why they turned the damage high they complitely forgot the lanephase, and it's defense. Another great problem is the permanent dragon buffs.

In old times:

You got countered? Stay under turret, play safe, buy def., and survive. If you give no kills, then he won't be too far ahead.

Enemy gets all the dragons? A few good teamfights can counter it.

Enemy wins early game strong? Play safe, farm CS it has little matter in late.

In current times:

You got countered? Enemy sends you home in 5 minutes, then destroys 2 plate getting extra gold, and comes back even stronger. Oh and the def. items worth less now so even if you go pure tank his damage will goes faster. Pray, that your jungler comes early, comes many, and can turn the tide.

Enemy gets all the dragons? We fucked. Permanently.

Enemy wins early game strong? They get all the dragons, destroy inhibs in 20 minutes, and later they get elder+baron. Unless we got an infinite stacker they need to throw REALLY hard for us to have a chance.

We should start with a -10% damage across the entire roster. And adjustvafter as necessary.

Honestly I think 10% isn't enough. But it's a start.

I mean yeah damage is a problem, but it’s less of a problem than it was in season 8.

This feels about as true as a metal fan lamenting that there aren't enough metal bands playing with distorted guitars. I don't know whether we've been visiting the same boards, but the majority of the posts here are "Riot sucks because...".

Rather than a universal damage reduction, I think an HP increase would work far better and cleaner.

Everybody gets say, 50 more starting HP - now all damage is effectively reduced aside just a few max HP spells (which are weak in early levels).

This also eliminates the need for turret plating.

I used to have 27 armor and 27 magic resistance at level 18 with scaling runes. I have much less Armor and magic resist in today's games now, and I face enemies with more damage in their runes than before Runes Reforged. I want bigger mini runes that let me build armor and magic resist comparable to levels I could build several years ago. In addition, I also want robust defense runes that are going to give me the robust experience I want when I select them. Aftershock needs to be changed so non-CC champs can get defense steroids too. I want it on everyone if you could fix it up.

There are advantages to better defenses being available. Lifesteal builds can be semi durable and enable drain tanks (they are still vulnerable to CC so its balanced) . Tanks can frontline. That encourages sustained dps adc instead of burst dps adc. Assassin can still kill squishies. The rock paper scissors of balance comes back and the game becomes interesting and engaging. Most importantly, it takes more kills and big durations of sustained success to get Today levels of fed and go off blowing people up in quarter seconds. You'll have to be patient in getting yourself hyper fed, and it's less likely to happen flawlessly. That, in turn, would end the common snowball and make it rarer. Closer game scores would be a more satisfying experience, and they would occur naturally if you make defenses more available and damage less available compared to what we have today. Heck, if damage runes are nerfed, then maybe weak defense runes would be fair. They aren't fair with what is in the Runes pages right now, though. You can see the fairness in how these games play out with all the burst damage.

If you don’t like it, don’t play it.
