Forgotten champions: Fiddlesticks

One of the most difficult mages there is. Why? Beacuse Fiddlesticks is not mobile, he aint even immobile. Fiddle is stationary, as more or less the only champion in the game.

In this League of Mobility, where dashing and gap closers are mor usual than minions, Fiddlesticks are trashed, and when you keep in mind how his main damage source (W) are interrupted as soon as someone stares at him, you are left out with a stationary champ wihtout damage potential.

They are also called "cannondfodder" and "statues" in everyday life.

Still, his sorry state of mind stays unoncfirmed with Riot. No words, just the ocacsional nerf every now and then. Why is Fiddle hated so much?

He couldnt scare Annies teddybear the state of him now.

That you can do well with him if you know what your doing.

The two last seasons, i had close to 70% win rate with fiddle, as my main. I have several hundred ranked games, and serveral hundred more unranked games with him. I know pretty damn well how to play him. This season, after his 2-digit number of concecutive nerfs over the last 1.5 years, have made Fiddle so weak and so easily countered, its a requirement to get fed early to make an impact late game.

Three targeted abilities and his ult takes him to his destination.

Positioning and timing are the only two hard parts of his kit. There are a lot of champions that rely on this to function.

And the strongest sustain non ult ability in the game. Barely losing to Swain, as long as Swain is around 3 champions. Any less and Fiddle will out heal him.

I dont think there is a single champion out there except for fiddle, that relies on being completley stationary to deal damage, so no, positioning and timing are not the only two hard parts of it. Fiddle has an extremley weak early game, with his main damage source being intterupted by anything. All tanks, mages and warriors have at least one soft CC that will cancel it. Marksmen and assasisns just pure outdamage him since the drain gives you around 40 true dmg, where 20 is healed, whereas most other champs at lvl 3 will give at least 100dmg pr second in average.

Fiddle cant outheal a ladybug early game. The thing is, Fiddle is way too easy to interrupt, as both his Drain and his Ult can be cancelled by any means of CC, and you dont have anything to hinder that CC from happening (like braum and yasuo). In the tiers where Riot gets their most relevant numbers, Platinum & Diamond, people are ususally to smart to let Fiddle do anything, and since he cant defend himself.. something is way off.

His sustain gives him one of the strongest jungle starts in the game since he can keep clearing till blue buff runs out.

He does need his ult to gank well though. Otherwise he has to wait in a bush.

His heal may be interruptible, but he'll get most of it out before his fear is over. And as he gains ranks it'll be back up in no time after the CC ends.

Skill cap is not what keeps him back.

Heavy mana costs make him a poor laner. Being squishy and neeing 6 to have any effective ganks make him an iffy jungler. As well as no real great enchants like other junglers get. Nerfed CC and making enemies run away hurt his support roll.

His Rank 1 drain without any AP heals him for 180 health. Dealing 300 damage. Given he cannot AA so the damage is understandable. But that's more than a health potion. Every 10 seconds(9 with blue buff). It's one of the main reasons he gets played in jungle at all. His sustain.

Fiddle is kind of like Zyra. Tons of power. But enough drawbacks that it's hard to really fit them in most metas easily. More or less have to build the team around them.

Fiddle is not a champion that requires high skill to play. His kit is just risky. You have to know what you are doing in the game more than you have to know what you are doing with Fiddle.

The main issue with Fiddlesticks is that he's primarily a jungler and all the jungle enchants suck on him. Besides that, I actually wouldn't complain about him.

I agree. The "magus" item was actually very good on him, giving him early 80ap and 20% CD, which made him something to worry about. Now, he aint a treath until he gets the zhonyas, and that means you are more reliant on your team to perform good until you reach that stage.

He's definitely weaker. I've played him through seasons 3-4 now I just don't see the point in playing him anymore. In his prime fiddles was able to ult on a carry, fear, drain and almost every time result in a kill. Now it's highly unlikely you'll be able to 100 - 0 a carry in a team fight unless you're team is on point with their follow up -- awful solo-queue. The changes to fear completely broke any synergy fiddles had with his abilities. Fiddles needs enemy champions to stay near him to deal any damage and making them run in the opposite direction of your drain and ultimate isn't doing him any favors. Champions like Shyvana, Xin zhao, Diana, Skarner, Ekko are more reliable at locking down carries and have a constant presence throughout the team fight, clear camps better, itemize well from jungle items. Fiddlesticks still fits in well with organized teams especially at higher levels, but playing him in solo-queue is too much of a gamble.

Maybe...

-Drain does bonus damage on creeps (doesn't have to increase healing) -Drain reduces damage taken -Ultimate damage (per sec) multiplies the longer it is on a single enemy (reduce the initial damage) -Revert changes to drain range -Increase slow on fear
