Why do pro players put wards in the middle of the lane?
I generally put them in bushes and stuff, is there some benefit to putting them in a lane? I thought minions gave you enough vision there

If you have a lane opponent who traditionally roams i put one down just to prevent 2v4 botlanes
There are certain spots where you cover several lane entrances and the minions aren't always there 100% of the time. So if you have a ward covering a few lane entrances you can track opponents really well.
When the enemy pushes the lane it gives vision of whats going on deeper in lane.
I think it's to be able to see when the enemy goes from one side of their jungle to the other so that if you're pushing lanes you have a lot of time to react and set up something. I guess
Usually they put the wards when towers are dead or when they take an enemy tower so they have early info on lane assignments
To add to what people have already mentioned: placing a ward in around where you've lost a tower helps you keep track of enemy movements through your jungle.
Also to add you can see deeper into the lane to tell if your opponent is actually there out of normal vision or behind a wall trying to back, or if they're actually missing at which you can tell the team
so they can see people and minion waves coming down the lane, as well as people passing from different sides of the map.
