Enforcing a meta ruins any chance for having a new exciting experience

In a nutshell, the meta makes league for the most part an extremely uninteresting game. Its literally the same champions with the same strategies and some focal points of every game. Why is this community so afraid to try something new? This game has such a diverse set of champions/characters (from fat brawlers to gods to children with demon beats) but such a shallow and confined playerbase.

I remember once me and my friends tried something odd where we had one at each lane and 2 junlgers, the idea was that we would put someone who is EXTREMELY safe bottom lane (Like Ezreal) who can handle a 1v2 lane and we would put someone with amazing earlygame 1v1 potential and clear times (Shyvana) in the enemy jungle. The outcome was hilarious, the enemy team was completely helpless to adapt to this strategy because there are so confined to a player made meta dictating them how to play. Our mid and top lane would be great lane bullies ( Such as Renekton or Syndra) so they would pressure their laners so hard to the point they couldn't assist their own jungle and if our jungler was in danger they could quickly reposition to help them.

Breaking the meta is what makes this game exciting and fun and is what makes you "stand out" more as a player. I remember back before Cassiopeia got her very first rework where she was virtually an unknown champion i picked her up, got AMAZING with her top lane where at the time most chanps where melee and I could kite for days (And i went tankish so I didn't get popped) and simply profited.I felt amazing creating my own strategy I could enjoy.

This Nunu player basically did what i use to do and hes winning with it. It feels so amazing winning with a strategy you crafted rather than a group of challenged players made.

I HEAVILY agree with you on those last 3 paragraphs and that sounds like a ton of fun, but i think the meta fundamentally balances the game, imagine back in season 0/beta where you couldn't go top lane insuring that you would have a fair 1v1, and not a 1v2 as the jungle role wasn't fully adapted in the meta.

But too strict of a meta can become stale, so i think it's best form a healthy balance between the 2, which is difficult.

Lots of players tries different things, but most of them does not as effective as other options. If something works, it quickly becomes meta like a malzahar support.

The other aspect is team coordination. If you play a tresh support everybody knows what you do. If you play a poppy support noone has any idea how exactly you will do things, and you will surprise your own team as well, not just the enemy. Surprise has always a negative effect on a team oriented game.

In short, if you want to climb, play in a predictable way. If you play for fun you can do anything but stay away from ranked.
