Why can't we have AI take over for players who dc like in HOTS and Battlerite?

AMADEUSdotEXE··5 votes·2,419 views

I on't see a point to this. It feels shitty to lose and shitty to win because someone had a dc in a game they could or should have won. It isn't fun. Riot is obviously capable of this. Why hasn't it been implemented? AFKs plague this fucking game. The AI don't even have to be good or teamfight. If you could at the bare fuckin minimum give us an ai that wards where needed (doesnt buy items unless player is clearly building something) and just afk split pushes i'd be fine with that. Its SOMETHING.

I feel like Rioteers need to be in these kinds of games so they can get where eople are coming from. There's no advantage to this. You're a multimillion dollar company! Come on!

I'm not sure about Battlerite, but HOTS has no items and no individual leveling up. If a teammate disconnects, the bot that replaces them will have no negative impact on the game, even if they repeatedly die. In League however, a bot repeatedly dying will feed gold to the enemy, snowballing games further. You're down a teammate, which makes a lose/lose situation, but at least you don't have a feeding bot if you keep the 4v5.

Dieing in Hots gives xp to the enemie team, so bots feeding alot would be a big issue. The main difference with Hots is that you can give calls to the bot and say them to follow a specific player, and since teaming up and roaming around as a squad is rather effective in Hots for most maps, this prevents bots from beeing solo and getting farmed. Also, TTK is alot lower in Hots, so it's not that easy to exploit a bot and the other 4 have tome to respond.

Still, at higher elos haveing a bot is basically gg as you can't properly teamfight vs skilled opponents which means you loose the map objectives and with that the game. In low elo however, bots do wonders for Hots...

The xp gain is rather small compared to the gold gain Furthermore the bot soaking xp will help its team. And gold a bot gets in league will do nothing for its team.

I would prefer a system in which anyone could queue up with option to act as a replacement player for Disconnected players. Ie: A player would queue up (mostly) like normal, but instead of getting into a new lobby, he would connect to an already existing game and take control of a champion whose player has disconnected. (Edit; as a carrot, the replacement person would gain some bonus and suffer less/no penalties from defeat)

Imo bot players are easily abused and many times they would make situation worse than playing 4 vs 5 for couple of minutes.

Granted: Bot controlled champion is most likely easier for Riot to implement than this Replacement queue option.

The problem with bots is they are garbage, have you ever played a custom game. They can be easily gimmicked and have a hard time figuring out where to go. sometimes they stand in 1 place because their AI doesnt know where to go. as for the que for DC players that would be best, but who wants to join a game that is halfway done playing with their runes/items. Will you know the score of the game before going in, would you lose LP in a ranked game if you lose, and so many more un answered questions. While it is an awesome solution there just is too much to find a "good" solution for it.

I think you either didn't intend to respond to me, or you misunderstood what I wrote.

I believe I said pretty much the same; bots are easily abused, that is why I prefer playing 4vs5 - but I would prefer a replacement Player (not bot) to take control over the DCd player over 4vs5.

The bots comment was overall for the thread sorry should have been more clear. but the rest of it is definitely towards your statement as what do we give the player who is taking over the AFK player's character in game. What is their incentive to play that game?

Sorry for the late answer, but I think my original reply had this "as a carrot, the replacement person would gain some bonus and suffer less/no penalties from defeat". And in case the replacement just trolls around, we have the report system that might get trolls punished one of these days.

That could really skew the rankings. if someone only takes these games then, they can only climb and never fall.

Well, if it doesn't work for Ranked, it could be disabled from there and be used on other game modes. Anyways, it is most likely too complex thing for Riot to create anyways.

PS: Riot, feel free to take that as a challenge. ;)

But the problem is ranked games with an AFK player in normals it doesnt hurt as bad to surrender.

You mean like a battle royale/MHW drop in system? That could be interesting but then you risk trolls.

Baka Red1 votes

I do not know these "battle royale/MHW drop" systems you talk about. Anyways; If it involves a biological player, it involves risk of trolls. Nothing new there. However, even though trolls are a problem, they are not as numerous as they seem to be. Therefore it would be more likely to get a replacement player who tries to win.

yeah I would rather just have a 4 v 5 instead of a bot that feeds the other team more.

Because the AI would die easily which would be feeding, id rather have an afk over a feeder

With how much they feed the game would be over in 15 minutes.

Did you know that riot had been talking about for a while about making bots that they had train with pro players like Faker? Or are you just going off of your random opinion. I believe they iceboxed it without giving much reason but the point is that they had intent to improve the games ai and add some challenge for people who enjoy o-op vs ai.

Ok calm the hell down christ I didnt literally mean they give us that. There would probably have too be a setting for the average rank of players in the game. This is a brainstorm post relax. [zombie-nunu-bummed]

It's possible (highly unlikely, but possible) to win a 4v5. It is, however, impossible to win a 5v5 if one of them is a bot.

Pandemic Punch1 votes

The AI Will just feed. I have won several 4v5 games from the very start. If AI took over, it would have fed and made the wins impossible.

I think Riot should just put the entire team's worth of lp loss on the person who dc'd and give the other 4 players no lp loss. I have lost probably around 500 lp this season to afks. Even more to grievers, but that is a while different topic.
