You know, after giving Heroes of the Storm a second try
its actually pretty well balanced and fairly fun (a bit simple though).
I wonder what league could learn from hots, and vice versa.

Well, melee vs ranged balance works way better in hots for example, aswell as balanceing adc around not haveing crit. Also, tank mechanics. In hots, bodybocking other champs with your champ is actually a thing and tanks work alot with it, giving them about as much micro for their positioning as carries have. This allows tanks to have a baseline impact other than damage and allows to actually put CDs on their CC without them feeling pointless after initiateing with their combo. Also, all melees have a much better base-stat advantage to ranged and their AAs hurt, so even when your spells are on CD, you are still a threat to squishys as tank and can bodyblock.
Though not sure if this is fully implementable in lol simply because of the map. In hots, you often small and narrow ways and chokepoints where bodyblocking really becomes impactfull. In lol, even the junglepaths are wide enough that one champ easily gets past another, even with bigger champ vs champ hitboxes.
And since mage in hits are actually gated by CDs and are not that reliable, marksmen can work without stupid levels of dps and sustain, as theri reliable and consistent damage is reason enough to use them, and they offer other thing with their kits. As a result, they are viable yet not mandatory.
Obviously not haveing CS helps balanceing out the range advantage in lane, but there are other things that really help melee lane vs ranged. The sustain orbs that drop from the mage minion each wave help melee sustain, while ranged would have to move into dangerous territory to pick it up. But mostly, the towers really off protection simply because there's a wall that blocks vision, so if you retreat to your fort, you are out of vision and thus can only be hit by stray skillshots. And dives are alot more risky aswell because of the limited retreatpath due tot he walls and the heavy slow on the fort.
And the idea of haveing two differnt ults to choose from could maybe be addapted by lol, it really helps balanceing champs for high elo/proplay and normal play.
Also, when you play hots on a higher level, it's not that simple, there is quite alot macro going on, and the mechanics of many heroes are just as complex as in lol.
Not saying all is great and awsome in hots, but right now i think it's a better game than legue(though a wrose game than league once was) and league could learn quite a bit from it.
I do enjoy the choose you have to make while leveling in Hots. The game is easier to balance because the there isnt bullshit item that spawn during the season and making a serie of champ into broken status like in LoL. Both for me are quite enjoyable and if you want to introduce people into moba hots is far more better to do so.
More like what Dota can learn from League and Hots.
Dota dying a slow death, while Hots and LoL grow

Icefrog should have left Dota as it was, that massive simplification on how level up is handled sort of ruined it.
And the overabundance of invisibility isn't doing it any favors either.
I don't like HotS myself, no items to buy, all ou ever do is group as 5 from the very first minute to the last, ain't no slo playing allowed, all boring to me, match making is also bad when I last played, when I last played 1 year ago I picked a support and in my team I had 2 other supports, you don't have to guess how they that match went...

You were queueing in quick match instead of draft then.
Hots has always been enjoyable. But as you say for it's simplicity. It's so nice after rift league matches to wined down with out having to worry as much about the intricate requirements league and DotA have like last hitting and warding and everything else.
Auriel is nice :3c
Opinions on my pal kel'thuzad for anyone that has played him a fair bit?

unless you are a 10 million mastery point azir AND karthus, don't play KT xD hes really hard on the brain the combo is soo hard, but you feel like a beast when you actually do it e w e q. E target 1 place w between target 1 and 2, E target 2, an q between both

 complexity in hots, it feels like a troll comment. Intriguing none the less.

people like to joke about it, but clearly you haven't given the game a fair shot, go play a game right now, alarak, Kael'Thas or Kel'thuzzad, and tell me how ya do xD its really not all baby lala gameplay, its quite intricate. I really enjoy the game, and whenever I see a league player try it, all they do is complain about how ''wow, this guy legit has trynd ult'' or ''this game sucks'' instead of ACTUALLY playing :/ kinda sad, its Blizzards least played game, but its my favorite, and everyone seems to hate it just because its a competing moba game ;-; its not fair

I used to play alot with a good friend, but real life and technical difficulties prevent me from enjoying such things now.
Alarak not so much, kael only if they had shit like illidan hopping around like a coked up spider monkey. (Also barring any extreme riot like talent changes.)
Though seeing kel'thuzad's reveal the combo did looking something a bit more from the usual hots. Hope his damage is on par with kael and jaina's since you say it requires more.
His damage is super high if you land his combo
I like HotS' focus on objective plays and long skirmishes instead of the KillkillkilluntilyouhaveenoughgoldtopressRandwin motif that League and its players love to have. The only thing I don't like about HotS is that it's controls feel a bit clunky and restrictive. Maybe it's the animations. League will always have the upper hand in that department for some reason. Other than that, HotS shines in everything else.
I'm a pretty happy person, most of the time, but HoTS is the only game I have ever rage quit in. I closed that shit, deleted the battle.net launcher, turned off my computer, and went outside for some fresh air. Then I went back inside after I remembered how much I hate the sun. Regardless of that, I really don't feel HoTS is balanced at all. You have champions with invis and hard CC, so many ranged AD assassins, and Tracer.
I dont mind invis champ in Hots because I am good to spot the blurry effect when they move.
Can't stand HotS, I hope they don't borrow any gameplay elements from it.
hots is a god awfull game.
