Which moves are, to you, the least impactful feeling in the game?

Moves that seem to do so little that you question why they are even on a button

My big list:

Alistar's heal. Unless I've built Ardent Censer to turn it into a Warwick W.

Urgot's W.

Malphite's W.

Ashe's E.

Evelynn's R. Out side of giving a moderate shield, it is useless. And the shield is very meh unless you built full tank, in which case the other team will proceed to ignore you.

Cass's W. It's only use is as a zoning tool/poison creeps for E. And unless you're close to enemies they probably don't give a crap about it.

I personally consider being able to mark an area on the map as briefly unsafe to travel to the enemy team to be valuable in, albiet niche, many useful niche situations. It's a last ditch desperation peel move, used properly you'd be glad she has it.

Try AD/Bruiser Malphite, then tell me W isn't useful.

Urgot's W can be that difference between... "OH FUCK, I'MMA DIE" and "Suck it, Singed!"

Real useless skills, though:

Talon Cutthroat... No silence anymore killed it.

Taric Much as I love him, Dazzle needs such a huge upgrade.

SouL1ess2 votes

Cutthroat is still the best gap-closer in the game.

It's instant and it's a blink.

And Talon actually require it to be useful...for obvious reasons.

Real useless skills are Essence Flux on AD Ezreal. Does he NEED to put it to good use in order to play as a good AD Ezreal? No. Is it significant enough to allies that he needs to put effort toward marking them with an AS boost? No. Is it appealing for damage? No. For AP Ezreal it's a different story but for AD Ezreal, Essence Flux is just there with an insignificant purpose.

Dryditch3 votes

You miss the point. Skills can be useful and suck, just like they can be useless and suck.

Talon needed that silence for any hope of survivability. Now he goes in and dies. E is useless.

Ez can still function and his essence flux helps his AP build. Not useless.

SouL1ess2 votes

Yes, I play Talon. A lot. He doesn't suffer as greatly as "now he goes in and dies" from the silence removal, although I agree that Riot's compensation does not make up for his loss.

Yes, Essence Flux on AD Ezreal is a skill that I don't take at level 4, and only take the skill when I have no other way to spend a point. It serves no purpose other than give AP Ezreal his monstrous damage late game. It's exactly the fact that "[AD] Ez can still function" without Essence Flux that makes the skill quite useless for AD Ezreal.

Dryditch1 votes

Again, it provides a function. Just because your build doesn't need it, doesn't mean it's useless.

Malphite doesn't need his Q to be a splitpushing monster. I often won't take it until everything else is maxed if I build him that way. Doesn't make it useless. If I build AP, you'd better bet it's the first thing I max.

Yet you say that Talon's E is useless when a form of gap closer, especially an instant blink, is the living embodiment of assassins in this game?

Regardless of how hard Talon can get his ass kicked after he used it, he still require the use of that skill to get into position for anything that a melee champion would want to do.

Dryditch1 votes

Talon's E change, to many of his players, made it a suicide skill. That's why it's useless.

He needs that skill to kill, but it isn't doing its job.

Both of you arguing over Talon's E and Ezreal's W being useless and useful.

They both provide a function that isn't quite satisfying, regardless of the positive elements. Yes, Talon's E is an instant gap closer. It also used to be his defensive mechanism, but he lost that effect, and it's pretty sad as it is. Yes, Ezreal's W provides an AS steroid to allies (and potentially himself), but it's a barely noticeable steroid until it's maxed, and AD Ezreal maxes it last because it's not as effective.

Both of you are leaning too hard on the other's perspective, then being hypocritical about your own.

While I wouldn't say it has no impact, Sivir's Ultimate has consistently lost power until it has become nothing more than an MS boost. It used to be an aura, it used to boost AS, and now it's just a burst of bonus MS. It went from feeling like a team fight changer to being a longer ToA buff. Again, I'm not saying it has no impact; as far as ultimates go, it seems to do the least, especially on a Marksman. Like, really, the only one worse is Aatrox's ultimate.

Fiora's W feels so damn specialized, the only part of it that feels effective is the free Pickaxe+Long Sword in AD. The Riposte itself has such a short window and only blocks one attack for such a long cooldown. Pantheon gets single blocks at much greater frequency, and Jax gets a longer block that avoids every attack for the whole 2 seconds. I wouldn't trade either of those for dealing a tiny bit of magic damage in return to that one blocked attack.

I agree with the Sivir points, but want to add on: I actually feel that Sivir's ult affecting lane minions to be useful. I've even been in the center of our base and timed all 3 waves spawning so I could ult as Sivir and send all 3 lane waves ahead with the movement boost. I also honestly feel I helped turn a few games around with a well timed ult, allowing my team to chase down and catch out 2 enemies, allowing us to plow into the base for the win. It's not really so much combat orientated anymore, I just consider it an objective buff that you don't have to kill a monster to get. Pick this up, with a Sona, Talisman, Baron buff/dragon buff, and you basically achieve an old loved win condition: winions. You literally create situations where all your team's champs serve as are bait to lure the enemy out the base for Super Minion ulted Baron angry guys to win for you. One of the enemies notices, they ping, even if anyone does retreat allies move to the exposed area: ect ect.

For the longest time (back before the maokai's reworks, like when his ult was where you placed it) I never would put a point in Maokai's ult at lvl6, I'd lvl something else up. I had experiances where people wouldn't use the area. They'd walk out of it, either avoiding it like they thought it was an enemy spell, or expecting it to do dmg to the enemy. Obviously I had games where yes people knew how to use it, but I just felt it was a waste of mana.

Soraka's new e. Aside from a low mana cost stack towards her stun, Annie's e is sorta useless/not really worth using as intended. It's meant to give her a boost to armor and magic resist, and burn enemies that hit her. Newb players (myself included) would be led to believe this makes her tankier, where you'd want to entice people to auto attack you while its up. This doesn't turn out to be the case, it's not like garen's w, it's just a way to turn a 3stack q into a 4stack stun mid flight or stack inbetween roaming fights.

Ashe's e actually has it's main use in the gold increase, it's a tool meant to reward players learning to last hit, it encourages them to do this with extra gold, a skill they should keep with all adc's. An experianced player can also use this even further, like a free avarice blade. Also the vision helps alieviate ward pressure on your support. And if your team ignores your "MIA" or "DANGER" pings, sometimes tossing the e to SHOW the enemy is enough to convince them. I hate pinging for incoming ganks, only to have an ally die and then rage, literally, WHAT NO MIA JFKADAIE%u#@@"

JustMyBassCannon3 votes

Most of those I can agree with, but Soraka's new E is fantastic. It's an AoE silence with almost no casting delay, so it's not hard to catch someone out of position with it. You force everyone to scatter or suffer. It's especially hilarious when you place it where someone's gap closer puts them. It's about as effective as Veigar's W at forcing enemy movement, but it actually does something during the delay as well.

Faith Breaker1 votes

Maybe I'm just biased because I got so very used to Soraka's "new" e "pre nerf" But after enjoying it at that point, they tinkered with it, and it seems much less impactful. Looking at Raka's current e the way it is, it's useful I'd have to admit. But that recent e..... I miss it.

Faith Breaker3 votes

Anyone ever shot an Ashe's E at the enemy in a bush and watched them side step it, like, they legit dodged it? Ah.....

Chaotic Reks2 votes

INCOMING COUNTER ARGUMENT!!!

Alistar's heal is on a pretty low cooldown, allowing him to heal and cause damage at the same time (trample)

Urgot's W allows him to get a meh shield but it allows him to slow on hit

Anyone who's ever played AD malphite will tell you the importance of his W, a nice AD and armor steroid + passive tiamat

Ashe's E is very strong utility-wise, TF/Avarice passive and mini {{summoner:2}}

Dryditch1 votes

AD Malphite with an extra Tiamat... Oh the pain it can bring.

Dryditch1 votes

Lol... yes. Maybe an "on-buy?"

Fadedpf1 votes

ashes E is good, they should make it a longer range at lower ranks, but its valuable vision and free money

FantasySniper1 votes

Money that amounts to less than 5% of your income and only provides enough gold to counteract buying wards and potions.
