I think I'm screwed when the server moves.

That Alaskan internet yo. Small town limited internet, was getting 93 ping, got a wild hair up my ass and pinged the new server. Came back with 160, and these will probably be higher in game >< RIP my internet.

Submit a support ticket, they can probably provide you with a server transfer somewhere?

I dunno man Bless your soul

maybe, maybe not aren't they supposed to be having their own personal network for league traffic? this may reduce it some :) assuming you are with one of the supported ISP. ^ idk man, i could just be talking out my ass, look into it :D.

Looks like my isp is.

great, so maybe with the network dedicated to only league traffic will reduce your ping?

i know next to nothing on the subject tho. if you want concrete information, id contact someone with riot/riot support :)

Having a "partnered" and "supported" ISPs really doesn't mean much. My ISP is not partnered and despite being ~500 miles away I am getting a lower ping to the new servers than some of my friends who live in Chicago with partnered ISPs.

I am able to get as low as ~12-13 ms ping despite my data being routed ~50 miles South, ~100 miles West, and then ~350 miles East. ~1ms to my ISP, ~4ms from my ISP to Cogent, and about ~7ms for Cogent to get my data to Riot. For a total of ~500 miles and 12ms ping. Someone on a DSL connection in Chicago is almost certainly be unable to get under 20 ping even if their ISP partners with Riot in the same city. A lot things come into play. Routing is one. Another is last-mile-latency. A big problem for DSL users. Less of a problem for cable users, but it still much more so than fiber.

Consumer ISPs do not need to partner with Riot because nearly every major network (Cogent, Level3, etc.) has a direct connection to Riot and nearly every ISP already uses one of the major networks to reach the rest of the internet. As is the case with my ISP. It just so happens that Cogent has an awesome route to Riot. Above.net is not so awesome but still at ~18ms I can't complain.

Yeah my isp falls under partnered. So far this is looking like it'll end badly for me and the area I live in.

The sheer distance that data has to travel is working against you.

Hopefully Riot will be able to get a better route to Alaska. I don't know what you could theoretically get from Alaska to Chicago but I am guessing you theoretically get it down to a little over 100ms. 110ms with DSL and cable. Just a guess though.

You can ping gthe location of their new server.

Go into your cmd prompt and type

ping 104.160.131.1

When I ping the current server it's within 10ms of my normal ping so I can only assume it's going to be the same or worse for the new one.
