Would Riot even consider an ult like this?

I know riot generally hates passive skills and auras, but I was wondering, would some kind of passive or persistent aura skill even be consider for an ult effect. You guys do talk about how powerful auras can be so it makes one think it should at least be considered for an ult. I know it's not flashy and visible, but it would be cool to have an ult that's always on and makes you position well at all times for max benefit.

Example: a paladin He gets an on hit passive against enemy champions that deals bonus magic damage (smite evil effect), he also gets an aura that gives his allies bonus armor, mr, and HP/5 regen (protection from evil effect). There's also a tradeoff because as a melee champ he'd have decide between charging in to attack important targets and linebacking.
