it is:
M ost E ffective T actic A vailible
Therefor will include most devourer junglers

until they nerf him back into obscurity
in bot lane as either the carry or support, hes just op right now
basically every champion with a ridiculous win rate in your Tier
so go search win rates, and look at the highest ones and theres your meta

Mordekaiser gas a 46.09 winrate on lolking?
Better not touch him!
That's largely due to people still trying to play him in a solo lane, when he's not made for that anymore. Pretty sure when played bot lane as a marksman replacement (as intended), he's at or over 55%.
according to champion.gg
has a 42% win rate in top and 39% in mid, but he has a 56% win rate as ADC.
Reworked just as planned -,-
Interesting I never heard that acronym before. I always took it as short for metagaming.
Meta comming from the greek word for beyond, referencing a layer of abstraction.
Meta gaming being the act of collecting information about playing the game, that you don't necessarily get just from playing the game.
its possible that you are also correct...but the champions that are considered "meta" champions are the ones that are the strongest in the current patch yes? therefor they are the most effective choice at hand in champ select.
so if its "op" its meta until nerfed. If it wins all the time, its also meta. Any champion that does the current best strategy during a patch the best is meta. example split pushing, when it was the main go to comp, nidalee top was the go to because she was a super split pusher...then the got nerfed, split pushing fell out of favor to cc team fighting and 5 man dives and therfor nid top no longer meta.
its a strange combination between a popularity contest and what is actually the most effective.
soloqueue meta is to play the champion you're best at
the end.
