Duoing with low silver to bronze friends so weird

Like... I get that I am bad so I am not going to be auto carry them in every game. But even has a current year gold player and 3 time gold account player last seasonI feel I don't even increase my buddies chances of winning above 50%. It's so damn weird. I get if I duo with someone I should expect the enemy team to have a duo as well. That's fine and everything. But when I play with my silver 4 - bronze friends its like that + we get lower elo players than the enemy counterparts.

My accounts bronze or silver or w/e mmr so I get it no one is going to play like a pro. Or hell.. even decent a lot of the time. But.... if my teammate is say a bronze 1 Ahri in her silver promos who has like 40 cs like 15 mins into the game and can't land a charm or even play the champion at all I expect the enemy teams mid laner to at least be close to that level. Yet.... they actually have some knowledge of what's going on. And it seems like this all the time but mostly when I duo with my cousin or our buddy. If I just play solo I can usually just hard carry most the time because my actual elo is higher.

Last night I was in discord with my cousin who is on a large losing streak. He was bitching because his team was getting stomped. Since he just started a game I jumped into one too and played jungle Khazix more or less just to practice. I literally went 18-2 with a good chunk of CS and got my first S+ in forever. So after the game we decide to play one together because even my cousin said "well at least with you that's one person I don't have to worry about feeding". So we queue up and...... holy fucking rofl stomped. The shit just hurts my brain trying to jungle with him. Like...... our teammates were soooooo bad. I get it... its silver 4-bronze 1 or some shit so yes everyone super bad but omg the enemy team was like 2x better than them. It just.... makes winning that much harder. And it's like this so often if I ever play with these 2 guys. But if I duo with a fellow gold or like silver 1-2 buddy then it seems like games are at least even. Just don't get why games are so much harder when our team at least has one player who plays at a tier higher level. You would think we would have at least a small advantage.

Its a small sample size of games this season but.... it just seems like they have a 50/50 chance of winning but if I duo with them even on a same mmr account our chance of winning drops. Just don't get how that's possible.

Last season when I finally got some confidence I realized I was still really bad at the game because I could not carry them for shit in dynamic queue. That's actually part of the reason this account is even bronze right now. Got gold then started dynamic queueing with them and it tanked the shit out of my mmr and made for super low placements this season.

Anyways just curious if anyone else notices things like this. I know it's probably nothing just seems funny. Not trying to make excuse for our buddy or my cousin to not be able to climb but I do have to admit... they get some of the shittiest teammates I have ever seen.

I am Plat 2 and was duoing with a Plat 5 friend last night and although we won both of the games, they were some of the hardest games I have played in a while. Both games we were down early and had to fight our way back, play the game near perfectly to get the win after the weak early game. Duoing is just way harder for absolutely no reason and unless you know how to carry from your two roles I suggest you don't duo if you want to climb.

higher bronze and low silver isn't as bad as low bronze, but it's more about finding a good time when decent players play and not the really bad toxic ones. Many people in bronze actually have decent mechanics but give up or tilt at the first sign of trouble and either bring their teammates down to their level or tilt them to the point where they're not even trying to play the game anymore.

yes. you do. thats EXACTLY how the system works. which is one of the many reasons matching sucks.

I dunno man, I can't help but feel it's observation bias.

That said, I can't say I enjoy queuing with players well below my elo (unless they're likely to carry from their role). Bronze-Low Silver is a huge clusterfuck of epic proportions. It doesn't matter how well I peel for my team. If they simply aren't interested in winning and taking objectives (and they often aren't at that elo), my odds of carrying the game hover around a staggering 0%.
