This update is basically the nail in the coffin for Leona. Her niche was a aggressive high burst, tank. With the current runes, she cant burst. So, this shoehorns her into being forced to pick the tank Runes, which on paper should be good on her. But they aren't. Shes completely useless without her threat of damage.
Play Alistar, Taric, or Rakan. :-/

Unfortunatly, it doesn't cut it. Her power came from flat AD combined with her Q being a AA reset.

Mages do shit on her now just get aftershock and stunlock any squishy they dead.
PhearBunny1 votesnope. its already clear that the meta for support is going to be hyper mobility. Leona cant afford to rune hyper mobility, she needs to go Aftershock to be a tank, but then she lacks hypermobility, and is useless comparatively to the enemies support.
MAYBE Leona can be a top laner, but I'm skeptical since she lacks the ability to escape a gank and is horribly immobile.

zlumpy1 votesThe aftershock with dominance sub tree gave her quite a bit of ability cast burst. Aftershock is legit plus it makes her as tanky in the early game as she used to be.
