@Riot @Meddler Where Do Fighters Fit Into The Current Game?

Would you say that fighters being played less and less is due to the META or an overall weakness with the class as a whole? Currently we see Mages or Assassins in the Mid lane. Marksmen are now being played in the bot , jungle, top and mid lane(corki/varus). If there is a tank (to accommodate all the marksmen on the squad) in game they will usually fit into the top jungle or support role. and finally we will sometimes have utility supports in the bot lane. If Riot is to take on a class as whole next I definitely think they should weigh in the fact that fighters as a whole are looking kind of weak right now. We have tanks that can build more defensive items yet still out trade a fighter (Looking at you Poppy) Am I just undervaluing the strength of the class or do fighters just not really fit in right now?

There just are so many fighters and sub classes... You have Divning Fighters and Juggernauts for example. You have hybrids between subclasses. You have Gangplank We have no healthbar Fiora summoner 31

There are tons of extremely strong fighters that are played a lot. There are also a ton of fighters that get very little play. Wanna know why?

Because there are twice as many fighters as there are any other class in League. The strong ones crowd out the weak ones. That's what happens when you make too many of a particular class.

The fighter class is not underpowered, it is not in a bad spot in the current meta. You are completely misinterpreting the data.

Fighters are terrible because they need to itemize for both damage and defense.

Tanks have massive base damage and can itemize for pure defense. Assassins have massive scaling and mobility so they can itemize for pure offense. AP itemization is inherently hybrid offense/defense.

Fighters are forced to split their resources between multiple scalings and thus don't scale at all unless they have attack speed.
