Rakan feels so bad to play right now and here's why
-
NEW SUPPORT ITEMS. Literally no Rakan player in their mind would have built Relic Shield back when coin was available. Now we're being forced to take either Relic Shield, or Spellthief's. Now, this isn't always terrible, but if you're against a ranged lane, prepare to have your asshole stretched, especially since they took away the heal from RS, so you basically lose 1/4th of your hp for one minion.

Removal of coin Without the mana sustain from coin, I've noticed that I've run out of mana a lot faster. Also less gold income, because once I get 1.5k gold from Relic Shield, I'm basically relying on my team to not fall behind and to get kills. This relies on my team being competent, as Rakan does no damage. Sure, he's got cc, but without damage, no one dies. And if you're behind, GG.

He counts as a ranged champ However, he has none of the advantages of being ranged. He's squishy, but has 300 range, which is even lower than Thresh's. He's also hella mana hungry but doesn't have the same level of kill secure. I get he's supposed to be a distraction/disengage and engage supp, but his laning phase feels like ass. Even if you cc someone, pre-6 it's pretty easy to get away, especially in low elo where your ADC tends to prioritize a caster minion over a potential kill. You also can't really poke with him, and he requires more coordination with your ADC than your average support.
Proposed solutions:
- Give us back coin, but an altered version. Maybe less value on the gold coins?
- Just remove the earning cap on support items. While we do get the 1.5k gold freebie, trying to get our second item is pretty hard, especially when you have more pressing items to build than T3 support item.
- Give us more defensive item options. Please stop buffing assassins and damage, damage has been a major issue for the entirety of season 9 and the first thing you guys do is add a true damage execute on dragon buff, more lethality and AD items and add more AP to support items.
with that gold instead.
