We need more Ad supports/Supports in general

I know, sounds like a bad idea, but maybe having a Gangplank or Poppy support can be cool sometimes, if they don't feed of course. We need more high risk, high reward supports and adding an Ad support, or giving an ad champ the ability to be a viable support is good place to start. The support champion pool is quite small.

Only 10 champs have Support as a primary role Then 13 champs have Support as a secondary role Finally, there are things like Annie, Blitzcrank, and hyper situational ones like Malphite (Wombo combo dream, Miss Fortune, Orianna,Yasuo, Lulu) Poppy (wow ADC bad idea focusing the support), Veigar (I like stuns), Leblanc (Two-chains support b****), Teemo (I like grass), Brand (Fire dance around Teemo) etc.

The lcs supports consist of Janna, Annie, Thresh, Morgana, and Leona, with a little Braum, Blitzcrank, and Lulu.

The day when Poppy was played in the LC$ I was like OMG. When Poppy gets chosen for support in the LC$ I will crap my pants.

Nami sees a decent amount of play in the LCS with Soraka and Sona having been a situational pick at times, but Nami has definitely seen a fair share of LCS play

There's a thing called breaking the meta and sending non-support champs as supports. Vel'koz is a pretty popular untraditional support. I recently laned against an Azir support of all champs, and he was a total jerk to lane against as Kalista. It was a smart pick on his part and I almost lost lane solely because of him.

I sometimes play poppy bottom, however i'm not support tho that ADC peels for me and when its time I go under turret lol.

Gangplank support is pretty underrated imo. Has solid harass in lane, a heal / cleanse to sustain himself, and a speed boost for jungler ganks and your lane partner. Build him like a bruiser and he works out great.

General build : item 3025 item 3401 item 3087 item 3143 item 3065 item 3047

Defensive items can be swapped as needed to banshees, thornmail, merc treads, etc. Iceborn gets the full slow when used with parrley, so he can throw down long range slow fields.

I think the general problem with an AD pure support is if it is ranged then the auto harass would be crazy, especially if they made an AD support item. I would like to see one though, any variety in supports would be nice.

How is the support pool small? Based off just tags, almost 1/5th the champions are supports. Then you have champions that weren't designed as one at all that can support as well like Annie and Vel. You don't have to follow the lcs picks in your own game.

In order to be a support, you absolutely need to a) be really good at protecting your teammates, b) be really good at setting up kills and objectives for your team, or c) both. Gangplank 's mild AoE speed/damage boost and equally weak perma-slow doesn't really compare to the CC and utility a lot of champions offer in this respect (you might as well play support Warwick).

While it would be interesting to see a utility-focused AD champion, it might be difficult to make such a champion a support. Having a support scale with AP makes sense, because you can just shunt all of those AP scalings into the champion's utility and crowd control. The same applies to tanky supports, because they already need defensive stats in order to use their abilities at close ranges. Having an AD support, however, means that their main form of scaling is inevitably also going to give them a major amount of DPS, which is going to be awkward to both balance and itemize properly for (there aren't that many team-beneficial AD items, besides item 3050 and possibly item 3071 , and AD is one of the most expensive stats out there). In the absolute worst case, your AD support might just end up being a marksman or a melee carry with massive amounts of utility, and stop being a support altogether. Ashe , who has even better CC and utility than a lot of mages and supports, is a marksman, because it's just better for her to farm and get as much gold as she can for herself.
