People stopped banning Yi a year ago and now everyone is banning Yi again.

Maybe because they don't like Yi... Some people don't like Kata, Annie, Fizz, Riven, Vayne etc. You can ban whatever you like.

Unless another reason is discovered, I'm going to assume it has something to do with the popularity of squishy, low-mobility champions in top, mid, ADC and support.

Lower MMRs/ Elos still do it because we're scrubs.

Yi's also getting a crapton of bug fixes upcoming patch, and his increasing ban frequency (at least according to you) might be due to that? Everyone has seen what bug fixes can do to affect a champion's power a little too much (Azir and Yasuo), and it could even introduce game breaking new bugs (Yasuo's extra AA on Ult cast, making his 1 v 1 even more powerful than it already is).

Yi is such a shit pick. Banning Yi in any elo under Silver should be reportable. The only thing Yi could do better than other champions is run into snares.

I honestly have had bad experiences with yi's on my team and the other team. Other Team- Always gets fed My team- Does nothing when he is super close to bot while there is a low health support getting away and I'm a scrub
