I saw a video of him demolishing Trynd, but the Jax ran Zhonya's to waste the duration of Trynd's ult and buy time to have his Counter Strike back. Is it possible for Jax to defeat Tryndamere without Zhonya's or even Guardian's Angel?

Aatrox is really good at dueling for how much shit people give him and I'd imagine that Aatrox's functions specifically hard counter Tryndamere. Garen's always had an identity for crushing a lot of melee matchups. Sure it's been toned down since the rework, but the fundamentals are still there.
I mean you're entirely correct, don't get me wrong, but still not the best examples.
