Why is Yorick removed from free rotation when...

Ryze has the exact same problems. Endless early game harass, large sustain, frustrating to play against, low gameplay, high spamming nature. And yet Yorick falls off come late game while Ryze turns into a hyper carry. Poppy is also removed from free rotation for balance reasons but she also has the weakness of a weak early game and has to work to get to her late game.

Riot really needs to put him on the same list as Poppy and Yorick, its impossible to have him be strong without him being overbearing, he's always either trash or op, and he falls completely into Riot philosophy of problem champions that need a full rework on the level of Sion in order to be in a place that they consider "healthy".

The current Ryze is way over tuned.

When his passive is up, it might as well be URF for him. He can put out the same damage as Azir/Cassiopeia late game while spell vamping as much health back as Swain. There is no 1 v 1 Match-up that does not favor Ryze; he takes even less skill than Katarina because his cool downs resets themselves.

That said, Ryze, especially early game, does not do that well in group fights. He can't really get the time he needs to ramp up and 1 v 1 someone, and his kit has no tools that helps him escape if he gets caught. It is very easy to kill him with Jungler's assistance between his passives.

Ryze's problem mainly comes from his supposed vulnerability during his passive. However, the time window is so short and his passive is so strong that no champions can do enough damage alone to capitalize on it. Once his passive is up, he has his infamous root, endless spells, MR shreds, AOE damage, shields, etc.

Currently, you either engage Ryze while his passive is down, get him to 30%, he gets his 5 stacks and kills you. Or you engage him while his passive is up and dies anyway.

450 champions as a whole shouldn't be on the rotation anyway, but that's another topic entirely.

If you want a non-450 to make this argument about, I've wondered this same thing about Vlad.

IMO Yorick being out of the rotation does more harm than good. It means that no one ever plays him, which means that, for a lot of players, they have no idea how to fight him when the odd Yorick player does show up. I only discovered Yorick through being given him for Nemesis Draft, and I've abused quite a few players who didn't know much about the champion (like this one poor sap who picked Teemo into me, lol).

So.... prior to level 6, what built in sustain does ryze have? Also notice how hilariously weak he was before people found out you could abuse his reset mechanics to perma snare. Sure he needs to be nerfed, but his problem area is centered around a single ability, not a whole kit.

Don't know if you ever noticed but Ryze's ult literally doesn't have a cool down if you use a rotation to clear out a minion wave while passive is up.

The more you know :)
