Champion.gg - Vi Jungle Stats, Builds, Runes, Masteries and Counters

Hi i've been playing Vi for a while now and she's one of the strongest champions in my opinion but lately she's not doing that good... this is not a "buff vi" thread it's just a discussion to know what people think of her in this current meta so here's what i noticed so far : if u check her stats on champion.gg http://champion.gg/champion/Vi -1st of all if we look at her winrate % by patch http://imgur.com/SGjU6I6 her winrate just keeps decreasing with the release of new patches and items and that decrease will most likely keep going -but then if we look at her winrate % by the game length http://imgur.com/WtD9htw the longer the game the higher her winrate because as you all know vi is considered as one of the strongest late game champions in the game.

so how do we relate these 2 facts ? with the new season riot decided to make the game duration really short where a team can snowball with just 2 or 3 kills in the early game and end in less than 20mins if not the enemy team will just ffat20 but did they consider how will this affect the champions that need to make it to the lategame to actually dominate ? they basically just ignored them and didn't even speak of them as far as i know this is the reason of Vi's current drop in her winrate and if this decrease doesn't stop any sooner she'll make it to the bottom of the list in no time

I think the main reason for her bad winrate is that people are horrible on her. Most people play her with full off masteries and rush warriors into trinity. Vi is no assasin, she needs some defens, going that deep into offense only can be afforded if you are ahead, else she's just rather usless in teamfights as she can get exploded duering the ult animation. Aditionally, the most common runes are full ad, but as+ad gives a far superior clearspeed.

Originally, Vi's winrate/gamelength looked like the opposit, strong early and then falling of a bit, but seeing how everyone delays tankiness till the last few items, it makes sense that she is weak early and strong late now.

As someone that has attempted to Vi, I can confirm this. She's going to be completely useless if you don't know what you're doing.

I'll tell you exactly what happened.

Her biggest counter is Udyr who is seeing a ton of play lately

Vi is a scaling jungler. She isn't useful at all before 6 and she's not that useful after until she gets some items.

In this meta, games are very fast. Junglers with high base damages and early gank potential generally do better.

Edit: You already realized that, alright. I wouldn't expect her winrate to get much lower than it is. Games aren't getting any faster. She's got a decent amount of power in her kit. I think with the right team she's fine.

i dont think she's really "late game" like other ppl, more like midgame

Give her a frozen mallet, or maybe even an iecborn gauntlet. Aside from her Q and R, which are long cooldown, she has no real CC, and even then Q lasts a second at best since it's just a small displacement on the opponent and if you see her charging it, it's telegraphed. Once you get in on the opponent, you need to keep them slowed and at a disadvantage so your teammate can get in on that and get the kill. Her ammo system E lets her use iceborn gaunts well since it's ready to use quickly AND since it's an auto attack reset, it will proc the spellblade itself without an additional attack after. If jungler vi, get sated as your one atk speed item, then you can get good armor and mr items and you have a mildly annoying vi procing her passive w fast with tankiness and a slow.

It's always like this. If your'e asking why she isn't in the meta, then my answer is because meta changes. Not every champion is relevant in any given meta, and it's mostly rotated per champion class (rotation not dictated by Riot). Tank meta was Cinderhulk, ADC meta was ADC changes, Warrior's Bloodlust was crit dealers...

Honestly, Vi is plenty strong early too. The whole point of this fastened meta is to ensure reliability and balance between jungling and ganking. Jungling for sustain and clear speed and ganking to enable snowballs for you or your team. She is strong later because death timers are long and one good placed ult can turn the tide of the battle. Her damage is also very high with full itemization so that is also the case. But that's also true early game although you staying alive is questionable if you force fights.

Vi isn't useless early game nor is she later on, if you feel useless you are just bad. She is strong throughout the game and scales well. She is hard to kite as a long gap closer that knocks back, two auto attack resets, and an armor reduction passive, she also has a hp shield. Her ganks are solid through out the game especially after hitting level six. I wouldn't say shes weak because of her win rate, the people playing her must be bad at her. Wouldn't say shes a bad pick.

If you are a good jungler you can win with Vi. if you are a typical bad selfish afk jungler u will lose.

auto attack based junglers. are just superior to ad casters right now. vi can't beat jax/shyvanna/udyr/jax/xin zhao. not even close. with ragebalde. even their early game is better. shes really fun.

Win rates of other junglers went up over time, and she plays against those junglers a lot. Some of them are also currently better than her at all points of the game due to being too strong currently. It's not just a time, thing, there are other junglers with a similar winrate through game time but still have much higher win rates due to simply being much stronger and being able to abuse devour+rage blade into tank items. They out damage and out tank her, so all she has over them is her ult and that is it.
