Is it safe to say the tank meta is dead?

Or is it just temporary until item 3931 gets nerfed.

there never had been a real "tank-meta"...people were just surprised that some tanks actually had been viable.

Pretty much.

Tanks never really had any issues in lane, since they had enough gold income to afford their defensive items. It was mostly jungle tanks who had problems, typically due to slow clear speeds.

Cinderhulk primarily helped tanks farm in the jungle, which allowed them to have enough items to compete with other champions.

Season 2 was bruiser/tank meta. Honestly the Golem meta was the most exciting time in this game for me. I love the way bruisers interact, it's more tactical and less burst but that's not what Riot wants for E sports.

It has been dead for a while, the question is if the poke meta is dead yet.

And nobody shed a tear.

Right now the meta is

"Farm for 20 minutes, one shot everybody meta."

Tank meta dissipated awhile ago after cinderhulk nerfs

Also, a lot of the "tanks" picked were actually tanky bruisers. To my knowledge, only Sejuani and Sion were the "true" tanks

Tanks generally counter devourer junglers

except Vayne jg cause true damage every 2nd attack is just too much.

Yeah the meta changed. Its now changed to a poke-comp from a previous meta surrounding hard engages and teamfights.

No, tank meta isn't dead. Tanks will still dominate competitive and high rated games because devourer is somewhat counterable vs a coordinated team. The only thing is, is that you're not guaranteed a coordinated team in solo q or normals. So the meta in low level games will be lowered to sated, but higher levels will probably be safe from it. But I think it's too early to tell 100%.

This is the damage escalation meta. You thought Fiddlesticks 's damage values were high? Well, that's about as much damage a tank does now. Leblanc 's been killing you in one ability rotation? Riot fixed that by introducing ad carries who do the same thing, and it all comes down to whose ping is lower and animations shorter. Feels really great when a Trueshot Barrage gets an entire team down to 20% health and any casual ability thrown in just wipes everyone out. Or when a Shockwave deletes the back line from half a screen away and the tons of cc item 3116 item 3153 item 3022 item 3025 allow everyone to catch up to any champion, no matter how mobile, and finish the ace. They should just perform a flat reduction of damage from all sources by 15% and call it a day, because between new broken items, supports becoming secondary damage dealers and new champions with even moar damage, it's really gone too far.

Cinderhulk forced a meta where tanks had up to 6000 health and all-tank teams were still bursting other comps down. After it was nerfed to be a health scaling item instead of a high-health self-reinforcing monster comps got a lot more balanced and varied it seems.

Runeglaive and the new Devourer are shaking things up now and I'm waiting to see where it goes.

Why do you think that Sated Devourer fixed any problems of melee jungle autoattackers?

They still take a long time to ramp up, they still need alot of gold, and they can't initiate fights well. Tanky junglers are ready to go at level 3 in alot of cases, need much less gold to be useful and are beasts at initiation.
